    1 centre Half

    2 creative midfielders

    2 wingers

    1 target man

    1 goal poacher

At least four of them need Championship experince in abundance

    An extra 5000 positive fans

    bigger goals

That should make us a mid table team, all sound fairly easy to achieve in my opinion!

To hold the ball up something that almost cost us our place in the Championship was the lack of ball retention.

No, just the key areas of the team. I wouldn't say it were the back bone of the team like we have needed before its more the finishing touches.

    Steele

    Hassell - ? - Collins - ?

    O'Brien - Perkins - ? - ?

    Davies - ?

The ?'s are new players required if we want to be as strong as we was before Hill took over in my opinion. I've probably missed a good player or two off the list.

A right back is an absolute must

As much as I rate Hassell as a defender, his best years are behind him and the physical demands of playing 40 odd games, sometimes 3 times in 10 days, is just too much.

And Wiseman is simply dried up dog wa.nk.

Wiseman will be playing, there is no danger of that. I can't see him bringing a different right back in.

With the exception of Steele, O'Brien and Davies, I'd be looking to replace the entire first eleven.

    Collins, Goldbourne, Dawson & McNulty

are all imho capable of stepping up to a decent Championship standard, maybe not top 6, but Ive seen enough for cautious optimism. Maybe not all first choice every week, but decent enough to keep. But there's a lot of holes in the first 11, no natural leader, no creativity and most worrying no leader at the back capable of building a solid defensive unit around.

Re: A right back is an absolute must

I wonder if there is any hope in the fact that some players take a season or so to settle in - O'Brien being the most recent example so we may find Wiseman grows into a Championship standard defender - cant see it myself but then I couldnt see O'Brien improving like he did

what is clear is we are at least 5 or 6 players short at the moment - and thats before injuries and suspensions kick in

I have a hope that a couple of the acadamy might come good - its easy to imagine at least one of Digby Stones or Rose breaking through as the season progresses but they wont be ready at the start
