    Alan smith was assaulted in the pitch invasion by a group of fans who physically attacked him. No place for it, it's just a game when all's said and done.

    From what I got told he was pushed over and called a naughty word. Technically assault but not like someone lamped him or kicked him etc.

    That's exactly what happened to him and they also claimed he was spat upon.
    I've never liked Alan Smith, but that simply shouldn't happen. Horrible club, horrible fans as far as I'm concerned.

    Agreed. Whatever you think of a player there is no excuse for this to happen. As for spitting, disgusting; I’d rather get a crack than be spat on.

    You're wrong IMO. Clenching a fist and winding up fans is part of banter in the same way that chants from the terraces is. Any kind of assault on a player is completely wrong.
