    According to Keith Hill...
A man who was on bail for a number of violent crimes and who had previously been photographed with a handgun deserves a second (or third or fourth) chance.
A man who's sole 'crime' was to play a workplace prank is a trouble causer who should never be given a second chance.
A convicted violent criminal who was given an 8 month prison sentence deserves a second chance.

    **** me, I'm completely lost.

with jacob mellis he had no chance of getting a reprieve, you only have to look at his playing career stats, no where does it mention Rochdale among clubs played for

I'd love us to sign Mellis but can't see it happening would be a like for like replacement for Butterfield too. Oh yeah and he's on a free transfer... WIN WIN WIN!

What did Mellis do? I'm guessing that the difference is that if Mellis plays pranks in training etc then he could be a disruptive influence in the dressing room.

Yeah apparently Mellis is a trouble causer and we don't want them, but someone who's been to prison is somehow not as bad and not a trouble causer so we are after him. Our manager talks **** but we know that already.

The comment about the training ground incident was one part of the interview. He said he'd seen all the videos of Mellis at Barnsley and he'd had one good game and that's way he didn't want to sign him. But let's not let the whole interview get in the way of a chance to criticise our manager.

The problem that Mellis has is that he doesn't have Dawson's engine.

The fact he is one hundred times the footballer is irrelevant.

I'm still puzzled why he re-signed Frank Nouble if he watched the videos from 10/11..

Thought it was footballing reasons he didn't go for Mellis? After reviewing the tapes he didnt fancy him as a footballer?

He said he was a trouble causer , but he then said "anyway I have watched the tapes from last year and he only had one good game anyway!" , which he then made a mockery of by saying that signing Nouble was a "no-brainer". If he watched the tapes , then surely he could see that even if Mellis only had 1 good game, it was 1 more than Nouble.

I disagree with his assessment of Mellis but he may have had a dozen other reasons why he didn't want to or couldn't sign Mellis. Maybe he was just put on the spot by whichever journo asked him and came up with the first two that came to mind?

SuperTyke always seems to see life as black and white when in reality it's a million shades of grey!

You'd have to disagree with his assesment of Nouble too!

Oh I don't know I think I do agree with Keith. I don't think Nouble has got a footballing brain. That's what he meant right? ;)

Oh I agree, but I think Hill should just keep shtumn sometimes because he trips himself up, then blames the fans for not understanding. I understand and everyone I talk to understands we have no money, but to keep being told we will struggle and we should just accept it is wearing thin and creates a feeling of despondancy and misery.
I for one do not believe we should be aiming for 21st, because if thats what you aim for, falling just 1 place below gets you relegated, aiming for mid-table and missing out by 1 place at least you get another chance next season. This season we finished with the 3rd lowest total of point gained in matches, its only through the loss of points by another team we stayed up.
I agree that Pompey should have been deducted those points, but we cannot rely on that happening every year!
Apparently feeling like this makes me as bad as a Wednesday fan, hey-ho!!!

One thing Mark, if you read is interview it sounds different to the player interview.

Do you really think Hill is aiming for 21st? My interpretation of Hill is that he certainly doesn't doubt himself and its that he hasn't been able to achieve what he wanted this season and its got to him.

The one thing that has never come across to me is that he doesn't want to be succesful. I think he believes the fans don't appreciate the constraints he works under but he certainly has never made me feel he is content with fighting relegation. I don't think he's used to losing and his ego means he is often too bullish and is quick to defend the job he's doing.

I'm not sure I get the same feeling from the board though.

You'd have thought that part of a Managers job, particularly before a season starts , is to maximise ticket sales. On Friday in his column in the Chronicle he devoted it to once again 'educating the fans to the contraints he is working under', that is, every club has better players and more money than us and the new financial rules won't make a difference........how is that going to convince the wavering season ticket renewers to buy their season ticket, then the next day we have the Vaz Te give away rammed down our throats again.

For years i have heard fans saying that they have been hoodwinked into buying a season ticket for various reasons. Players sold after renewal dates, Wilson leaving, no Box Office' signings.

Now we hear fans complaining at our manager for being honest........
