I was wondering whether this bloke would be suitable for us? A big, strong, Championship experienced centre half available on a free transfer, assuming the rumours about us bringing in that type of player is accurate. http://www.itfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10272~22520,00.html If I'm talking gibberish, I'll hide behind the settee and wear my tin hat!
Good shout. But alas, I suspect his wage demands will be out of our reach. I reckon if we do end up making one or two decent signings with Championship experience it won't be until a couple of weeks before the season starts. These kind of players are going to be looking for the best deals they can get and we'll be used as a fall back for some of them.
From what I've seen of him, not that much admittedly, he looks very dodgy. Definately got a mistake in him. Wouldn't personally go him but we definately need someone of his ilk. How I'd love to have Darren Moore back, terrific centre half he was.
There's much wisdom in what you say, mate If we're to sign that level of experience, in my opinion, then thirty somethings on a free transfer are probably realistic targets.
I thought of Sonko as, potentially, a target When someone mentioned Danny Shittu had been made available.
Darren Moore was a fantastic centre half, but by the time he came to Oakwell he could not bloody run, he could head the ball farther than I can kick it, but I can beat him at running as he will attest!! Last September outside church, lol. Over the full 50 metres.
Re: I thought of Sonko as, potentially, a target That's better, would love to see him here. Always rated him, not sure how old he is now but I reckon he'll still cut it in the championship. Would be perfect for us if we could get him in.
I wouldn't mind him, either, mate But I was thinking that signing a player on a free transfer from a fellow Championship club, rather than one from the Premier League, was more likely to be nearer our budget (salary wise) this Summer.
Re: I thought of Sonko as, potentially, a target If I could pick between the two of them I'd have Shittu.
Re: I wouldn't mind him, either, mate Aye fair point that, although I wouldn't be suprised if Ipswich's wage bill was huge anyway.
