I think he is doing a reasonable job under very difficult circumstances. There have been mistakes but on the whole he is doing ok and let's remember he is doing an impossible job trying to bring the stay away fans back and please the angriest fans in Britain. The bloke would be criticised no matter what he did. I wouldn't do his job because working for a set of fans like what we have got would **** me right off.

I can't get angry about it anymore.

A blithe acceptance of how we are these days.

Very much looking forward to Rick Holden's book coming out about his time at Oakwell - think it'll give us a clue as to why we're on our 4th manager in 6 years, the club has no money anymore for expensive signings and wages and why we've got to a pricing strategy that sets out to put people off buying match day tickets. In addition to the parameters that look to have been set for the poor ******* in the marketing dept who have to implement policy.

Not sure it'll explain the disgraceful scenario that is Barry Taylor retaining his position through administration, Doyle, Lewis, Ridsdale etc though. Not sure anything would be able to explain that.

Pissing around with memberships etc, two cats, A £25 B £20. Decide the cats 6 weeks before a game so we know roughly if there's going to be a big away following, maximise the income from the away support.

Do they really consult the supporters club on this issue? Do they resemble BMBC, stuck 2 decades back?

Does the club want 8,000 fans paying £25 or 11,000 plus paying £20?

In my opinion, £30 was too expensive, £28 is too expensive, £25 is too expensive, because last season very few fans were paying £23 on the day for a Cat B game so they certainly wont be paying more than that this coming season. I know we are skint, and the club have to try and make money somehow, but driving fans away with extortionate ticket prices isn't the answer

The accounts state BFC are dependent on Season ticket sales so to me it looks like there's a deliberate policy of making matchday prices as unattractive as possible to persuade folk to get ST's.

Which is all well and good if people were being given some sort of encouragement in the form of positive vibes from oakwell about the future.

For the record I personally can't fault the ST pricing - I know some are unhappy with teh 'earlybird' thing etc but here you go. I just wish they'd be more inventive and proactive in trying to engage with lapsed supporters or those who have family budgets squeezed.

the ticket pricing is good, better than last year in all fairness 25 quid is expensive but by the standards of the division its not too bad 9assuming you are willing to pay the small membership fee).

The best line in the thread though was 'the club is dying' since that's exactly what it's not doing thanks to the current prudent management. It was dying in 2002, other clubs like Pompey are close to dying now. We certainly are not and although it seems the PR could be slicker at times we are running on a shoestring and the club has my full support at the moment and I suspect very much I am in the majority.

I don't think we can assume that because its on a par with other Championship prices its a far price, the area has to come into it and Barnsley is on its arse a lot more than other area's. £25 for Championship football maybe ok for parts of the south but even that price is a struggle for most folk in the BMBC area. If we get 10k crowds next season it'll be a great acheivement.
