Here are a few alternatives that I am sent to FIFA for them to consider... 1. A game of knock-out Wembley 2. A game of British Bulldogs 3. A game of conkers Any of the above could be used to replace the penalty shoot out.
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes Wonder why after all these years he suddenly wants to change it? Now maybe I am just being cynical here but, could it have anything to do with an English team winning by this method? I know that Man Utd won the same way, but that was against Chelsea. When England and English sides are losing in penalty shoot outs I cannot remember him saying the were bad a idea then? but I reckon someone will now come along with a link to prove me wrong
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes just off top of my head i remember liverpool, man utd and chelsea all winning on pens....
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes And????????? Man Utd was against Chelsea, (both English teams), Liverpool was 30 yrs ago, give or take a couple of years. It does not seem that long ago I watched Grobbelaar doing the jelly legs routine!!!!!
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes I did think something similar to this, but maybe I'm cynical too. Thought it was strange that he said this just after an English team beat a German team by penalties..........
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes I'm pretty sure it was AS Roma they beat and I think the Italians are, statistically, as sh.it as us at penalties so you're right it doesn't count. I wanted Roma to win but I knew as soon as I saw the jelly legs what the headline was going to be.
Re: I always liked the idea of taking a player off each every 5 minutes Yes it was Roma and it was in Rome about 84 I think, not sure but about then. Blatter never said owt when Krauts beat us in World Cup/Euros, about how he disliked pens!!
30 years ago? Bloody hell I know Gerrard and Carragher et al are gettin on a bit but it can't be thirty years since they came back from 3-0 down to beat AC Milan! I believe in fairies, the Easter bunny, and Keith Hill.
I had completely forgotten about that game mate! My brain is getting bloody addled! So I appologise profusely.
And so you should, offending me with your blatant lack of scouse knowledge... I believe in fairies, the Easter bunny, and Keith Hill.
