I don't think I made my self clear in that post, I wasn't criticising Mr Doyle, by ''the situation'' I meant one person with total control of the assets without any pre conditions as to it's future use. He did say that he wanted to sweat the assets though and there was talk of an entertainments complex and casino. He also wanted to use the car park for a park and ride set up. Now I frequent his worsboro common hostelry and sometimes he mentions things that happened during his time at the well and he said that money from these ventures would have been put back into the club and I believe quite a chunk of it would have been, but lets not beat about the bush, he's no mug when it comes to business and he wouldn't have lost out on a personal level if some of those ventures had come off, and quite rightly so. As to having no assets, well, I've had that disscusion on here before and don't want to get into another one, but, PC owns the club, PC is joint owner of Oakwell holdings, work it out.
Believe me pal, he dunt need security, he's what, 67, and he can still put em to sleep in one. Never, ever any trouble in his place, zero tolerence to idiots and double reight wi reight foolks.
So taking out a mortgage is stealing? The club was facing extinction, certain other parties refused to make bids to rescue the club and doyle stepped in and saved us. He didnt have enough money to do it himself so he took out a mortgage on the land to fund his attempted rescue. Sterling are a bunch of crooks in my opinion and the mortgage was foolish because it caused a lot of problems but I do not think there is any evidence at all of doyle stealing the land
i have said it before i'll say it again, the stay away fans are to blame for everything ***** about this club, we need a trip to wembley or a season in the premier league, to show investers we can get fans in
so when i see my neighbour tomorrow can i shout at him over the fence blaming him for the lack if signings and any positive news coming out of oakwell? after all he didnt renew his ticket last season and is staying away again next season
ok i will give him both barrels tomorrow morning when i put the bin out, if it ends up in a fight and we make the front page of the chronicle im blaming you, don rowing and keith hill
I don't think stay away fans are to blame for everything but you're right that it would improve the chances of investment. If we could say "look, we have 15,000 season ticket holders and a further 5,000 pay on the day/away fans, so much so that half of the 'away' stand is now for home support because it is that strong" would surely show we're a club worth investing in. Its a massive shame cause a nearly full Oakwell regularly would be create a magnificent atmosphere and make it an intimidating place for away teams.
Looks like the Canadian 'Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment' people are distancing themselves from any takeover. This is what they tweeted overnight: '@MLSEPR - We love the enthusiasm of #LUFC Fans! However to repeat our response from last week - there is no truth to the rumours. So now they're hoping it's the Kuwaiti businessman, Fawaz al-Hasawi. But he's also rumoured to be looking at Nottingham Forest and won't reveal the name of the club until the end of June. Deluded Leeds fans at work are already talking of a return to the Champions League. But then I think it's just another Ken Bates plan to disguise the lack of any transfer activity and boost stale season ticket sales.
