When our piss poor excuse for a board aren't in charge of negotiating players contracts / transfer fees F Delph Leeds Utd to Villa = £8 Million K Walker and K Noughton Blunts to Spurs = £8 Million Jay Rodriguez Burnley to Saints = £6.5 Million Jordan Rhodes Huddersfield to whoever, Huddersfields Chairman says not for less than £8 Million When they are Hammil Reds to Wolves JCR Reds to Bristol Mcindoe to Wolves Howard to Blunts Vaz Te to Hammers Butterfield to whoever all = loose change when compared to any of the above The problem with our club starts at the very top, a business that sets low targets because those at the top have no ambition and want to scrape around at the bottom of the pile hoping to preserve the status quo year after year and then doesn't protect it's assets due to weakness and incompitence is bound eventually to fail. The lessons aren't being learnt either Luke Steel out of contract next summer, contract negotiations yet to be started up several promising young players only given 2 year contracts meaning one good year for them and again the club risk losing them for peanuts.
Spot on unfortunately The club say we can't compete, and a large part of that is that we don't get anywhere near enough money when we sell our best players. Look at Reading - sold Matt Mills for £5m and Shane Long for £7m last summer and won the league as they could afford the likes of Jason Roberts. I know they have a wealthy benefactor but they've made their own money. Of course we don't get big crowds and that's a large part of being able to compete, but if we operated a little more sensibly (as you elude to) it'd give us more of a fighting chance.
Re: Spot on unfortunately The club will continue to stuggle while ever the chairman as other more pressing concerns to worry about, Don Rowing is allowed within ten miles of Oakwell and Barry Taylor is more concerned with FA jollies than getting stuck in at Oakwell. I just wish that somewhere out there was someone with the financial clout and who cared enough about the club to buy Cryne out but sadly it would appear Barnsley supporting rich benefactors are a species numbering 1 and the 1 out there (Cryne) is no longer interested.
One key point - other than Vaz Te, none of the other names have done anything for any other club which perhaps shows how good they really are... Let's hope Butterfield is an exception!
Means absolutely nothing Matthew. All those players at the time were our best players and went for peanuts. Makes sod all difference what they did afterwards
Delph has hardly pulled any trees up but Leeds still banked £8 Million, I couldn't give a toss about how well a player does after leaving Oakwell I just want the board to grow a pair and start getting decent fees for them when selling them.
why do you hope butterfield is an exception? if he leaves like the rest i hope he snaps his knee and never plays again - sorry if its harsh but i wish no player who jumps ship the best of luck
But regardless of how their careers have gone after they left us they were, at the point of transfer, wanted by other clubs who got them for significantly less than we believed they were worth. Sadly a depressingly familiar and recurring story for us.
Re: Spot on unfortunately Maybe John Dennis could do a job for us, cannnot be any worse than Don and Barry.
Re: Spot on unfortunately i would love john dennis to get involved with the club again, an experienced head
Re: Spot on unfortunately Me as well, but as Redstar says incompatible with present owner. I've only ever heard Mr Doyle ( notice how I keep calling him Mr ) say good things about him and his knowledge of all things football, he's not very complimentary about some of the others involved at the club though at that time.
so you have never wished anything bad on any other human being, your a liar if you say no so shut up and get back in your box - goodbye
Footballers for leaving one club to go elsewhere - let me think - errr no. You are the one completely out of order on this thread.
whats the difference, wishing bad on someone whether its football related or not is out of order, i admit im out of order but i dont retract my statement you on the other hand have wished ill on someone as well and you know you have.
I hope Jacob Butterfield goes on to have a wonderful career and plays at the top... How could a true Barnsley fan want anything else? It'd be proof that our academy coaches know what they're doing and proof that our manager knows how to develop players. I know it's been said a million times, but if you were offered treble your wage to work for another company I doubt you'd be staying!!!
so im not a 'true barnsley fan' because of what i said? i pay my money and attend 95% of the games home and away, so if that doesnt make me a 'true fan' then what does?
MATTHEW WAB - crawl back from under your stone and please tell me what makes a 'True barnsley fan'? just because i dont wish a player well who is jumping ship doesnt make me any less of a fan than you, you silly little man
