The club really cant win. In past seasons transfer targets have been kept quiet and people moan that they don't know what's going on. This season they have been more open and people moan when the transfer targets aren't signed.
I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in for Love to know what amount of coin we have offered for them. Hills comments in todays Chron about him happily waiting until late July / August worries me. Every point counts next season if we are do avoid relegation, Hill needs the players in and up and running ready to go.
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in Yep just like Vaz and Drinkwater were last year..... Oh.... Wait a minute.......
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in Should we be offering more than we can afford? Taking the Portsmouth approach to football transfers?
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in no but making offers that we know wont be accepted just to give us false hope is not the approach we should be taking.
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in No because we wouldn't be offering them 15k plus a week, if we push the boat out a little to get the players we need it doesn't mean we have to go at it like Pompey did. Greer for example 100k the first offer reported down in the south, which silly b*stard sent em that one? what was our second offer? 175k perhaps? wouldn't it be a good idea to push the boat out a little to secure a important player next season if it means survival and Championship income? Paying the agreed fee for 3 important players next season could save us a couple of million in income. The club won't continue very long in this division on the current budget and wages, its only a matter of time before we are relegated. We won't keep surviving by the skin of our teeth every season. Its up to the club to either work twice as hard getting income in or finding investers or go at it a little to ensure survival, it seems we still have the administration anxiety hanging over us.
The Pompey situation with transfers is a scandal - just love to know how much we bid Like King Keith says, if Greer is exactly what we are looking for on and off the pitch then b*llox to it we should put another £100k on the bid and go and get him instead of getting a centre half from the lower league for a fraction of the price, who at the end of the day just like a lot of Hills signings are stealing a wage, denying the academy lads pitch time and are about as good on the pitch as Dogdirtnall
Re: could you re-post that plz in understandable English It's reight difficult typing accurately and using punctuation when yer on yer high horse.
Re: could you re-post that plz in understandable English Lets hope Keef finds The Don's petty cash tin in the office this afternoon.
Well it would be nice to hear something positive for a change but i doubt it. Also it seems we connot compete with an admin club for a player or tempt a league 2 winger to come here. Don't know too much about Greer but would have been happy with Norwood. So the club is now looking at the next rung down the ladder for targets then.
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in No but I wonder what is being done to try and bring in new investment. We had to reduce the budget by was it 700K? So what was done to bring in more investment so we didn't have to decrease the budget by so much? Or did we just accept we were getting less TV money and think reducing the budget was all we could do?
Re: This thread is mental Thread? try "board". It passes my time of day in the office, l haven't worked since last Wednesday.
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in If the club were paying that game I suspect they would have gone for bigger names than the ones mentioned? Hardly box office?
Re: I wonder what size bid offers we have made for these players we are no longer in Offering more than's in the budget is more than we afford. You have no idea of the actual situation with Greer. Maybe it was a cheeky bid based on info Keith had about the club wanting rid of him? We don't know what our budget for transfers is. I suspect it is very small so wouldn't imagine us paying huge transfer fees for anyone. That's not to say we stll can't pick up some decent players. The wage budget is there to get some quality in. Many players contracts will only just be terminated. Let's have a bit of patience.
