    Paul McCartney what a performance.
This jubilee is something to be proud of as a country I think, I've seen countless posts on here about 'jubilee *****' and other **** wit posts but we put just about every other country to shame.

Top event from a top country to celebrate the queen of England.

    God save the queen

It's been a superb advertisment for Great Britain. No-one does pomp and ceremony like we do, and it is the one thing that others around the world admire us for. And for the miserable who measure it in cost alone, it will have brought in countless millions in extra tourism £££'s and combined with the olympics, will continue to do so for the rest of the year.

Thoroughly enjoyed it to be honest.

Tonight typified why we as a small nation are the dogs danglers at hosting a spectacular celebration.
If that don't make hairs stand up on back of your neck when all them people sang national anthem then nothing will.

England squad take note for euros, let's see some blood, passion and tears!

Exactly what they've been saying on Canadian tv over the last few days.

BTW, it's been said in the press over the past few days that 80% of people in the UK want to retain the monarchy (hard to believe when you read the BBS) and a recent poll in Canada suggested that the figure is 70% here. I, for one, am very proud to be British (and Canadian) and hope the monarchy outlives me. However I think there may be a significant dip in popularity when Charles is King. We'll see.

Meantime, really looking forward to watching some of today's events on telly later tonight.

    Me too.

Me too. Not wishing ill on the bloke, but it would probably be a good thing for the popularity of the monarchy if he is outlived by his mother so that, when she goes, the crown can pass straight to William. He would be a VERY popular monarch.

If HM has another 10 years, say, then Charles will be well into his 70s by then, and we would be losing a Queen approaching 100 to be replaced by a not univerally liked bloke in his 70s. It would be a real shot in the arm for the monarchy if it was a popular bloke in his 30s instead.

It's just a shame that everything else gets measured exactly the way you describe.

Cost of everything, value of nowt.

I thought Macca and Elton were bloody awful! They cannot sing anymore, sounded terrible, so did Cliff. I enjoyed the concert but I really hope that those I mentioned give it up now because all they are doing is tarnishing a brilliant career.
