I'd be tempted but ultimately I would have to say......I don't know. The history of the club obviously means nothing to the current regime so should we really be too concerned about selling out??
'The history of the club obviously means nothing to the current regime' You'll have to explain that one to me.
Keith thinks we've always been **** and everyone else at the club seems to have forgotten when we formed and when we won the FA Cup.
Yes. Our home shirt could be army camouflage for the 100 milllion Cardiff are having pumped that will give them the chance to sign better players and fight for a place in the premiership. However many of our fans would prefer to stick to red shirt and struggle on a peanuts budget as we do year on year.
YEAH WE COULD EVEN WEAR SUMMAT RIDICULOUS LIKE THIS:- http://www.oldfootballshirts.com/en/teams/b/barnsley/old-barnsley-football-shirt-s1483.html HTH
Most of the players don't come from your town. Almost every player is yours to a point that they become successful and then they move on. Managers last a year, teams change unrecognisably after 3 years of ins and outs. It fast becomes absurd to be loyal in any sense to 'your' club. The only things that remain from the "my team, my town, my blood" passion which should be at the root of the game and all the way up is the club's identity and history- the shared memories and time of club and fan. Remove these and what's the point? You may as well invest your season ticket money on the stock exchange and cheer that. Or buy a franchise from another town that is more established (the disgusting MK Dons). Barnsley have played in red for over a century and at Oakwell too- things like this, and the fact my ancestors have been worshipping at the same hallowed turf all this time make me give a damn despite the money money money flux of the game
Well that's certainly putting the old farts like me in our place We're the blight on the game, we're the ones who cause the problems with the development of our club, we're the ones who lack vision. Thank you for pointing out the error of my ways.
Re: Well that's certainly putting the old farts like me in our place If we sit tight, the whole house of cards will eventually crash down. Football is unsustainable.
Will they have to rip out the seats at their new stadium then? they're blue. Suppose that would be an easy task for Cardiff fans.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cardiff_City_Stadium
