On another of your favourite subjects, I read recently we nearly signed Robin Friday. Story goes that it was right at the beginning of his career when he was still playing as an Amateur for Reading. Apparently we sent a substitute onto the field with the sole intention of trying to get him to join us...... it didn't work.
Re: Sorry Jeff, old mate I'm disappointed that there wasn't more consultation with the fans and maybe a phased introduction of the changes. But for me (and plenty of others) it's not about success, it's simply about survival. If these guys called in their debt, we'd close overnight - and the reality hit home for me when they withdrew the investment proposals as soon as ther was a reaction against them. There's nothing about moving the ground and, in fact, they are talking of expanding and seem to want things brought more centrally. Our training facilities are absolutely first class - and that comes from the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and even the British Lions, but they are 12 miles away & rented. They want to build new ones in Cardiff. The club has lost some of its identity, granted - but in reality I think that football has gradually sold its soul since the involvement with SKY in 1993. I'm prepared to embrace the change in the hope that its positive for my club. Doesn't mean I'll like it - but will give it a go.
Re: On another of your favourite subjects, I read recently we nearly signed Robin Fri I've not heard that story before tbh. The title of the book about him "The greatest player you never saw" says it all. A flawed genius - but no doubt a genius. And the biggest nutcase you coulld possibly imagine.
It does a bit yes - but I'm not sure we could have survived given the level of our debt. These guys have been pumping in £1m a month to keep us afloat. A bitter pill, but I want to be able to watch my club every week - and also the thought of going out with the missus on weekends terrifies me lol.
So you've been allowed to continue a false position by spending money you don't have, including finding 1million for Craig Bellamy while a Scottish club have to take you to court for an unpaid transfer fee? And now someone has come and waved their magic wand and its all disappeared, the only issue is changing the club kit or whatever. Only the smallest brained idiot fan would object to that. Meanwhile, another dodgy overseas ownership deal goes through, all this money pouring in from these unknown sources, with the joke of a "Fit and proper" ownership test. First Chelsea were bought with money stolen from the Russian people by a thieving tw*t, Birmingham have a owner going to jail for stealing money from god knows where. When will it ever end?
If 'Roman' took everybody to court who said that the courts would be very busy places. Or are you suggesting he will be popped? Uranium or summat.
