    Does anyone know the answer to this, if we sign a player in July and not June, we may save 10-15k in wages on him, plus the fact that if hes out of contract come August he may sign for even less money than he was prepared to accept in June. Just the thoughts of a optimistic old fart!

    The contract will still be the same length though, so what you save at the begining you pay at the end.

    Yes, thats true but on reduced terms, a player may sign for a lot less in August than he may now.
    The best may be picked over admittedly, but some will give 100% to get back up pecking order.
    All Pros are where they are because of their inner belief and confidence.

    I think all barnsley contracts run until 30th june.
    Doesnt matter when they are signed.
