Sadly it's true, Bryn Son of Darfield. http://www.evertonfc.com/news/archive/2012/06/10/gordon-west-passes-away
Before my time, but can anyone answer why his 1st club was Blackpool and not us if he was a local lad?
Blackpool were an established 1st Division club at the time That probably played some part in him signing for them.
Re: Blackpool were an established 1st Division club at the time Just wondered if he had moved over that way when he was a youngun hence the reason he signed for them.
Re: Blackpool were an established 1st Division club at the time depends who we had in goal when he was making a name for himself,,,players in those days played with pride and passion and wernt content with the reserves..
Blackpool had quite a few decent players in the 50's In fact, they signed one of the best players Barnsley has ever produced to replaced the departed Stanley Matthews, Arthur Kaye. <img src ="http://cards.littleoak.com.au/196667_abc_footballers/092%20Arthur%20Kaye.jpg">
Quite unsual among keepers he could throw the ball into the opponents half and rarely kicked from his hands. Darfield Foulstone pupil I believe.
