    yes it is,i know quite a few of his family,,me mam went to school with him..

    Aye, his transfer fee to Everton was the biggest for a keeper at the time.

    Before my time, but can anyone answer why his 1st club was Blackpool and not us if he was a local lad?

    Blackpool were an established 1st Division club at the time

    That probably played some part in him signing for them.

    Just wondered if he had moved over that way when he was a youngun hence the reason he signed for them.

    depends who we had in goal when he was making a name for himself,,,players in those days played with pride and passion and wernt content with the reserves..

    Blackpool had quite a few decent players in the 50's

    In fact, they signed one of the best players Barnsley has ever produced to replaced the departed Stanley Matthews, Arthur Kaye.

    Quite unsual among keepers he could throw the ball into the opponents half and rarely kicked from his hands. Darfield Foulstone pupil I believe.
