Human? No it proves he's a useless dolt. Was probably pissed up. Social services would be all over it had it been someone else.

No they wouldn't. I bet it happens all the time, have you never seen Home Alone?

Seriously though, I think he's a tool but it's a simple mistake. He thought she was with his wife, his wife thought she was with her. Can't bash politicians about everything - they are just people. Except he's a bit evil.

I appreciate that a simple mistake can happen in one parent thinking the kid is with the other. When I was 5 I was waiting for ages to be picked up at school cause dad thought mum was picking me up and vice versa.
What concerns me more with this is doesn't the PM and his family have security protection and if so wouldn't they know where the daughter was? I know they are supposed to remain in background and not interfere but surely in this case.

    I imagine it would be

But I don't believe it has happened to most parents.

My Mother used to leave me in all manner of places when I was a kid but I used to find my way home just to annoy her.

    Nice thread this.

They were complacent in thinking she'd gone with one of the other parents there but fcking hell, let's wind it in a bit eh ? Just be thankful the little lass was safe.

FWIW I can't imagine leaving my daughter anywhere in similar situations but there's a long way to go yet so not going to be too keen to pour scorn on other parents. Whoever and whatever political persuasion they might be.

I think they have been incompetent & irresponsible

Thankfully, as you rightly point out, the child was safe. The point I was making is don't spread the lie that most parents have done something similar.

It dosn't, but i reckon there are some factors that play in. Stress may be one....... another is alcohol. I've seen plenty of parents with young kids that are totally rat arsed in pubs and clubs at 3 in a morning, when in Spain. I would imagine the chances of them forgetting their children is pretty high!

    First of all

Great to see you posting again, mate. I hope you and yours are all well. You've definitely been missed on here.
    Secondly, I agree with you.

Re: I think they have been incompetent & irresponsible

I only heard of this incident on the radio this morning, I haven't seen anyone say most parents have done similar.

I know the most dedicated of parents who left her son in the kids seat of a supermarket trolley and got in her car and nearly left the car park. She was absolutely distraught at what she'd done. Sometimes you can't explain or excuse things like this but they happen. It's a reminder to all to be more vigilant and keep our wits about us. There but for the grace of God etc.

They probably thought she was with Nick Clegg. That is what he does isn't it? General gofer and dog's body? If he doesn't help Call Me Dave out round the house then I'm not sure what else he's meant to do

Re: I think they have been incompetent & irresponsible

Most parents dont leave places in seperate cars with 2 sets of body guards - I can easily see how this can happen - I think too much is being made of this most parents make mistakes somewhere along the line - if its not this one it will be something else

I bet there have been quite a few **** ups in picking up kids from somewhere where each parent believes the other is doing it for example

or to take a different example - which happened to me as a kid - mum and dad were shopping and mum went to go to a different shop leaving dad in Woolies in Barnsley - when it was a big shop I had wandered off and each parent thought I was with the other - I felt very lost for a while until a panic looking mum was dashing towards me - variation on the same theme.

There are plenty of things to knock "Dave" about but this really isnt one of them

Nick Clegg can't go into anywhere there are seats as he can't sit down after being butt ****** mercilessly by the Tories.
