For the sake of the colour of the home shirt that's a very good budget for the manager to spend. I wonder if he would be interested in anyone at us to overspend on.
Its not just the playing budget though. He (Vincent Tan) is wiping our debt (most of it owed to him btw) by converting it into shares. There's also investment in the infrastructure in the form of stadium expansion & our own training complex which they say will be one of the best around - thats £22m worth on its own apparently (stadium + training complex). Totals £100m and is focussed on the future. You've only got to look at the likes of Rangers, an infinately bigger club than us, to realise that a change of kit colour (which, lets face it, may only be here a season) for long-term stability is a small price to pay. That's my opinion anyway - but there are plenty that are unhappy. And yes, no doubt we will blow it
I don't want to play in red, nobody does - but I do want to watch my team play & if they were to walk away tomorrow I'd have no team to watch, whatever colour they chose to play in! Just being a realist imo.
Totally agree mate, unfortunately it's the way football is going now and like you say it's not easy to give way to 100 years of tradition but having a 100 million investment certainly helps, I would love to have such an investment here,
Lol. They (the corporates/media) can call us what they want, we'll ALWAYS be the Bluebirds. No amount of money will change that. Bit of trivia for you now though - no-one actually knows why we're called the Bluebirds. The common belief is that there was a popular play of the same name being performed in a theatre in town at the time. And, strangely enough, a bluebird actually has a red chest
I'm just glad we didn't revert to our original colours btw - chocolate & orange quarters! I don't like the way football has gone tbh, money mad - but that's the way it is & we had to adapt to survive imo.
First money going on Jason Shackell by the looks of it. If we are entitled to a sell-on, let's hope the bidding-war with Burnley hots up!! Three, or four million should give decent cut.
Why have they told every team in the land what their budget is. they'll be complaining when the prices go up by a few million when they enquiry about players. I can't see it been true.:nails:
