Thought it was quite funny myself. He did well for us but left looking like an arse. Funny how that transfer to a 'big club' worked out for him......
In any walk of life, if you're offered more money at a bigger company, you take it. You sound so bitter
Didn't he beg to come back a few months ago too? Never come back they say - see Glavin, Banks... Nouble I wouldn't mind if he returned, but he's not half the player he was, and not in the league of the player he'd replace.
I'm not bitter about it, I just think it's ironic that he's pretty much begging to come back here. I understand people want more money and better chances, but the circumstances in which he left weren't exactly the best
I agree, move forward and all that. We do need someone like how he used to be though, he was a real asset back in '08.
To be honest I cant remember! I just remember feeling let down by what happened, probably cause he went to the Blunts. I've slept a lot since then though!
A bigger team, a bigger club came in for him. His agent probably filled his head full of **** for his fee.
He went because they doubled his wages, BFC did not offer him a contract that was in keeping with his status at the time! It was Cryne who said he was worth 10 million, not Howard. Howard wanted parity with other players that were here, he did not ask for as much as Blunts offered him either, just as much as Moore etc.
I never said that he went for too little, or that he said he was worth £10m. Nor did I say that the blunts offered more money, which is why he left. I just said I think it's funny how he's begging to come back here. Strange how the world works.
Id have him back any day.. A player wanting to play for us is always a good thing. He had talent and still does
People seem to have forgotten,Howard wanted to stay, and asked for negotiations on a new contract,I think(but could be wrong)it was Gordon Shepherd who said it was too early to think about contracts when he had a year still to run on his............... and then promptly gave Simon Davey an extension to his contract when he'd got 18 months on the old one, Brian Howard wasn't acting Billy Big B******s.........BFC ballsed up,and lost us a good player
To be fair I was younger then and didn't really understand the management of football players like I do now (which is still limited). I think I judged him for leaving when I was younger and that just stuck with me. My attitude has now changed from what i've read on this thread
I don't know if his best days are behind him or not but at his best he would walk into our side. I'd definitely have the '08 player back.
