Not saying we aren't after one, but all the names we seem to be getting linked with are forwards or central midfielders, Sheffield Star is reporting most of them, do they think we'll be playing a 0-5-5 formation. I'd be suprised if we sign more than 2 from that list.

 

Kilbane is a left sided player. Where have we been linked to Mellis? Hill killed that rumour last season. If we end up with 6ft 5 Futacs holding the ball up and nodding it on for Mido who has a proven track record of scoring goals, with Etuhu up there as well with his pace, i'd be particularly happy

 

Sorry, I meant left, get them mixed up Sheffield Star have reported Mellis alongside the Mido story. Got the makings of a good side, I just wonder where the money's coming from

Cheers young chap. Would be another decent freebie. We've been linked to a good dozen players and all but O Grady have been good. Ironically Grady is the only one that would cost a transfer fee as well. Be interesting how Hill explains wanting someone who in his words is a trouble causer who only had one good game for us.

Just because no defender other than Greer has been mentioned, doesn't mean that the club hasn't targeted any.

Think in a 4231 we need a few central mids and we need a right winger unless done RNL or etuhu will play out there.

 

I've heard a lot of good things about O'Grady from what Wednesday fans who really know their football. They think it would be a mistake to let him go and would fit in to our short passing game because he never gives the ball away. His most succesful spell was palying for Rochdale who obviosuly played the same way/system when he scored a lot of goals.

 

I've heard the same. But don't let that block the fact the intelligentsia have looked at Soccerbase and declared his ****ness.

We need a centre half that is better than the two we played mostly all the time last season, because they are not good enough.

When we were playing well, we didnt let in many goals.

 

Our centre halves do not command at all. We need a leader out there.

 

Not sure what that means but we need a CB that is going to play every week, the ones we have now aren't good enough, simple as that.

I wonder if the potential deal for Kilbane could help with a move for his former Irish team mate Paul Mcshane. We probably can't afford his wages but if we show him some ambition via other signings then he may be tempted to take a cut. Wishful thinking maybe but you never know.

 

Paul Green is out of contract too. Local lad not a bad player?
