Not knkocking our good fortune, but that ball was over the line and the goal line official was 3 bloody yards away from it. What is the point?. Just get on with it and bloody introduce technology FIFA.

If we benefit from a dodgy decision like that, Blatter will bring in goal line technology as soon as possible.

    And I'll say it again

With technology that already exists and has already been proven to work but turned down by FIFA the referee would have had the word GOAL shown on his watch before the ball had come back out of the 6 yard box.

As it stands though we've got some useless arsehole stood behind the net with his hands in his pockets thinking about how much he's getting paid whilst actually doing nothing.

The goal line officials have been truly useless in this tournament indeed.

Oh well, at least England fans can't complain about the same old "referee conspiracy" now...

... until their next match. :p

I've watched a lot of football over the years, a lot of games with these extra officials behind the goals too and I can honestly say, hand on heart, that I have NEVER seen them make any meaningful decisions correctly.

Most of the time they are stood over the by line on the pitch so any play on that side of the field they are blocking the sight of the linesman most of the time.

True although the Ukranian who passed the ball before was offside and that was also missed so 2 poor decisions actually got the right result but the useless 5th official wouldnt know that - he is only there for one thing - his big moment came and he fecked it up

  10. original long bal, the man was yards offside, justice done

Yep, baffling - why on earth are they on the same side as the linesman?.

I don't see why they don't just look at the camera footage. **** all this goal line sensor stuff, just look at the TV footage - if its not clear if its over the line then its not a goal.

If you'd have used goal line technology then you'd have ended uo moving the wrong decision to the linesman who didn't flag for offside. In this instance it worked out ok :)

I think the goal line official must have been affected by the aftermath of the Chernobyl blast, mainly on his eyes.

When I first saw the incident live (and in real time), the ball looked well over the line. In fact, it was a pretty tight decision (even with the benefit of a freeze frame).
