If a move was dependent on this it's been kept very quiet. You'd have thought a move away from the club would have leaked out by now. Id not be surprised to see him stay.

No I dont have an issue with him leaving as I said in my earlier post, what i take issue with is the way he is treating the club. If he wants to go then fine go but do it the right way and treat the club who have done a hell of a lot for you with a bit of respect. That's not a lot to ask, even of petulant over-hyped footballers, is it?

NB. I will have an issue with him leaving regardless of anything else if he was to sign for Leeds.

He's contracted until the end of June, just as the majority of footballers are, hence deals not going through until July 1st. And playboy lifestyle? He'd have to be on a fair wedge, and up until now, at BFC, he's been one of our youngsters, on low wages. But yeah, let's pretend eh?

Only half a season that pretty much kept us up. Take him out of the team last season and we'd be having a derby again with Doncaster.

    It's a legit account.

He won't sign for Leeds. They aren't a Premier League club, and that WOULD be shitting on BFC. Even I'd be fecked off if he pitched up at Bellend Road.
Your first point though Mario, I don't really understand. How is he not treating the club with respect? He's at Oakwell more than any other player, and as he said on twitter, the doctor/surgeon has given him the all-clear to train. He spoke with Keith just a week ago, in person - Keith admitted as much in an interview with Rob Staton. He spoke with Matthew Murray this week apparently. The only person - other than folk on here without the facts - to accuse Jacob of not keeping the club in the loop, is Don Rowing. The same Don Rowing that doesn't know what time of day it is.
If you can show me a recent interview in which Keith Hill says he's disrespecting BFC, then fair do's. But until then, I'm happy to believe that the lad has spoken with the club and made his intentions clear. He has done from day one IMO - he wants to play in the Prem. And why wouldn't he? He nearly had his career ended in January, whilst playing for our beloved club. He has a chance to maximise his ambitions, and his finances.
It's a "no-brainer" as Keith would say. And Keith will say exactly that if/when Jacob departs for pastures new.

*Just to clarify, I'm playing devils advocate or whatever it's called. It annoys me to see a young lad that has done nowt wrong in my eyes get post after post of unwarranted criticism, much to do with anything but his actual talent on the field - which is the only thing that should count. So I'm putting over the 'other' perspective. It's called debate.
Something this forum needs, instead of a thread full of the same opinions reworded.

I don't think he's Premiership quality just yet, maybe with a few good season's in him instead of 6 months. Will he be the same player after this injury? He's a gamble for a Premiership manager even at a tribunal price, l can't see a Prem team coming in with a concrete offer for him.

I think he's premiership quality. The question is whether he's physical enough, athletic enough to make the grade in the premiership. I don't think he is as yet. Particularly now, after his injury. But I don't know what would be best for him to make that step up. Playing with Barnsley every week or training everyday with established premiership players. I think you could make the case for both possibilities although I obviously wish he'd sign for us.

Completely agree. I would add though that I'm not sure a Premier League club would base their team around him which is how we got the best out of him. I would be delighted if he stays but if he goes I genuinely hope he realises his potential

I hope you're right YT I really do but as we know there are no morals in football so I guess you can't completely rule it out.

I definitely heard the Don say that the club had heard nothing from him despite their efforts to make contact with him. I can't say for certain but I was sure I'd heard the same from Keef. The whole saga has become a bit of a pantomime and until its done with Keef is in a position where he can't replace or plan to replace him.

I'm sure all players want to play in the premier league and so would I if I was a player but at some point a young player needs to take advice from people other than their agent. Is Jacob ready for the premier league - I don't think he is but thats for him to decide. The way it looks now is like he is waiting in vain for a premier league club to offer him something and if that doesnt happen he'll bit the bullet and sign for little old Barnsley; at least we're a safety net.

That's what its all about YT, debate and opinion, everyone is entitled to one and this forum gives us a platform to discuss them. Butterfield divides opinion and IMO he is to blame for some of the criticism he is getting. If he signs for us I will be 100% behind him when he puts the top on but if I'm honest I think we'll only be his club because nobody else wanted him and that's not good enough.

    That's fair enough matey.
I would like to see him here next season, even on loan if he does get his dream move to the Greed League. But I think we'd have heard by now if that was going to happen. There hasn't been much activity on the transfer front until recently, and I expect that to change once the Euro's are done with. So perhaps the lad is also having to wait???
If I was a betting man (I'm not) I'd expect him to be at a Premier League club by July 1st, when his contract here is up, and when the deals usually go through. But if he signs back on with us, I wouldn't think "oh, we're his safety net", I'd welcome him back with open arms. Because with him in our team we'd be safe again next season for sure, He's that good, IMHO.
