Ultimately Englands pathetically negative tactics have come back to haunt us. We were trying to take it to penalties instead of trying to score a goal. See barnsley away at coventry.
we couldn't keep possesion long enough to cause any problems tbh. but5 why oh why was ashley young still on the pitch and to cap it all take a penalty? ffs
Nowt to do with being negative it's to do with not having match winners and quality. Gerrard played his best for England but he's been saddled with no marks like Parker.
Agree with the gerrard comment but i feel we were negative trying to waste time, keep possession and take the game to penalties. Carrol looked mightely pissed off at the end when he was stood in the box hoping for a ball in and the rest of the team was concentrating on winding the clock down.
First half we had 2 great chances and almost scored in the last minute. At start of tournament I didn't think we'd make it through the group, instead we win group and lose out on penalties to Italy. Now Roy has time to work on the squad for World Cup qualifiers. And think I'd rather we went out now than against the Germans, they'd have ripped us apart again!
Can't argue with that, the best team won. We just have no genuine world class quality and it showed tonight against a decent side. Germany won't be too concerned though.
Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha its about time they gave up turning a England team out, they're absolutely *****, and have been for years, the only time they have have ever won any thing is when it was on home soil, and they cheated for that. there just not good enough and never will be
Cheated - how so? - if you are referring to the debateable goal it was hardly cheating - the officials gave the goal so arguably an error but definitely not cheating - thats reserved for the likes of Maradonna cheating to get the Argintines through against us a few years ago - also didnt we win by 2 goals?
