Where does he fit in? He says he wants another player to compete with Done? Why isn't RNL able to do that and what would this Etuhu be here for?
As he? Where? Any quote? Personally i think it suits him best. That or central where Butterfield played. Decent one on one with Full back, out of the games i saw Eardley for Blackpool RNL caused him the most problems. Best crosser at club. Saw him play for u18's in a 4231 as the 1 and it didn't suit him at all but maybe he could do better there. With that shot maybe right mid might be where he could play, when he hits one they stay hit. IS it because of is age? Maybe he doesn't train the best, Very relaxed character which maybe a problem getting up for it in training. Boring boring maybe. He seems a similar character to Ric Vaz Te in a way.
Maybe it isn't his best position, i think he came though as a striker and then had to play there for u18's. He's got that much in is locker its going to be hard to say i play here and here only. Where do you seem him playing LDRED?
Hills trying to build a squad that is strong enough to last the full season without having to rebuild in January, you can't blend young players in when your scrapping against relegation.
He made some comments about him last season to say that he thinks a lot about him but he isn't the best in training. Some players are like that, some of the very best are like that in any sport.
The most over rated academy player I think I've seen at the club. Will be playing conference within 3 years
He said it to me. His best position is central, then on the right and lastly on the left but definitely prefers playing centrally either up front or behind the strikers. I have to agree too, im sick of seeing us force out strikers out wide year after year. Davies, RNL, Dagnall, Nouble, Haynes, Jarman, Joynes, Coulson, Adam, Hume, Nardiello, Ferenczi etc... Ive no idea why we do it but we very rarely get the best out of our strikers when we make them play on the wing.
No need to defend him to me. My earlier post was just an observation, not giving an opinion on the talents of RNL. Personally I think he is still a bit young to be cast aside, but his breakthrough is definitely taking longer than expected. His progression seems to have stalled in the last 12-18 months. Like I said though, plenty of time. But when I have seen him for the 1st team he hasn't looked as ready as Digby, Stones or Rose even.
Got a reason for younger strikers. It's like young centre backs, they push them wide or forward to give them experience without them been at the core of the defence or forward line.
But its a totally different position and in my opinion far from aiding their development it actually sets them back and ruins their careers. It puts them in a position that they arent very good at and makes them look like poor players so after a few appearences they get shipped out on loan or released simply because they couldnt play as a winger. If we played Lucas on the wing to give him first team expericence without having to play in an important positon in goal then hed most likely look crap and get released.
RNL is 10 times the player gazza was at 18 years old We should not bother signing anyone else and just play RNL everywhere
It's a damning indictment on English football, BUT.... (don't shoot the messenger!) I'm not sure he is going to be big enough!
Re: It's a damning indictment on English football, BUT.... Are you going to get into a Messi lecture?
