Probably off to Huddersfield then for more money, bigger crowds, more ambition etc.

    Fair enough, we move on

No need for any whining, sulking or playing the blame game. Leave that attitude to school kids.

If he don't want to come here, so what. We'll look for somebody else. He'll not be the first one to turn-us-down & He'll not be the last one to turn-us-down

I'm gutted about that. He'd have been a cracking addition to the team.

I can't blame him if Huddersfield have got carried away paying over the odds in wages and bonuses but i expect Grayson to have the same impact (if not worse) on the Division that he did at Leeds.

Ah well... onto the next prospect and if we can keep Butterfield that will make up for missing out on Norwood.

If Jacob has decided to re-sign on again for us, could it be us who have pulled the plug? Would he really fit into the midfield with Butterfield, Etuhu, O'Brien, Dawson/Perkins?

    Alternatively

It could be something as simple as the fact that he lives in Burnley. Burnley - Huddersfield = Commuting distance; Burnley - Barnsley = daily pain in the @rse = house move.

Not sure that there is any evidence to support the fact that Huddersfield is a better, more ambitious proposition than Barnsley, and no-one knows what they or we have offered.

Anyway, he's not coming so move on.

Fair point there Fired, no one usually thinks about stuff like travelling/house moves.

Although he did probably go there for more money!!

They beat us to Joey Gudjonsson when in the league below us, so this was always going to be tough to pull off with them now in the same league.

A positive we can take from this is that we were prepared to offer a 3 year deal and tried to push the boat out as much as we could financially, while also being willing and able to pay a transfer fee.

As it wasn't used on Norwood, it can be used on someone else as and when the right person comes along.

I'd use some of the money we were going to spend on Norwood to make a third bid for Greer. We need a nasty ******* centre half that we haven't had since Darren Moore.

He could be great. He could turn out to be bobbins. Reality is he's one of those many 'promising' youngsters of which only a few ever make the grade. Evidence so far? Some decent strikes on YouTube, a loan spell in the Championship at a relegated club and the pre-fix 'Man Utd youngster' before his name. Not enough to be getting into bidding wars for him, or equally nothing to be upset about with him going to Huddersfield. He's a kid, they're offering more money, go figure. He might do really well for them, they might have a great season. Or he might struggle to get a game and they finish down the bottom half with us. Who knows?? If he's got a few extra bob out of it and he's happy with his lot, then good luck to him.
