why get mad? the lad has changed employers and as a result improved his bank balance and future prospects.....
Think it's a good move for him. Hughton's a good manager and coach, they're built on bringing young, good players through from the lower ranks and play decent stuff. All worked out well. Good luck to him. Let's hope we get some decent money for him.
Which means tribunal and we wont know how much we get until end of August by which time the transfer window will be closed. We've had our pants pulled down.
By Simon Grayson who had him taken out - we'd have got a decent fee in January for him. Plus our usual attitude to existing players' contracts - next one will be Luke Steele. My guess £250k plus add ons.
BFC: Captain of the Team England U21 call up Potential Olympic squad Only young , years left of first team football Norwich: not played regualar football for any significant period of time Not proven at any level above Championship Been injured for last 6 months lets see disco don argue this one and see how much we get....
Both, the player and his agent in the main, they have brokered a deal without any input from the club, we've had no opportunity to agree a transfer fee and therefore get any money up front, unless Im wrong it looks like this Norwich move is based on him being a free agent as of 1st July and therefore we have no come backs other than the tribunal. Nil communication from Buttefield and his agent to the club, hence Don stating "we would like to know whats happening" and on the day he can walk, he walks. Rimmed.
Rowing couldn't convince me that today was Monday - let's hope one of the tribunal once caught a dose in Norwich and hates the place.
Good rIddance, he's pissed us about all summer. Should've all been sorted and put to bed straight away.
IMHO.............Butterfield and his Agent being total w@nkers............they have **** on Barnsley and Keith Hill. The tribunal fee will be interesting and maybe will go some way in contributing to the medical costs we have incurred for the last 6 months whilst he has been sat on crutches and eating up the REDS physio(s) time. I personally think Norwich is a gamble as they have not exactly established themselves in Premiership and could very easy drop into Championship during Butterfield's contract period. That said, he will not be bothered as his wages have increased, he will appear on Match of the Day with his silly hair cur......and of coyrse his agent gets his £££
Reading between the lines (Keith saying there was no deadline, Butterfield in the Chron etc) I think there's been an 'agreement' that he would sign for us if he couldn't get a Prem club. Contract has always been on the table, he's shown nothing but respect to the club and Keith in interviews but he's been offered a deal by a decent Prem club, so he's accepted. The transfer fee is a bit of a nonsense. As soon as that lovely person Brown crocked him he was going to be leaving come 1st July. No club would pay money for him before hand - why would they?
To be fair he has done exactly what he is entitled to do. And I think he made it pretty clear to the club that his intention was to leave. Apart from the last few weeks (in the midst of trying to sell season tickets) the club have made it absolutely clear that he had signalled his intention was to go. Best of luck Jacob. You haven't left us to go to a club in our division purely for money. You have gone to a Premier League club who have a reputation for bringing through good young players from the lower league and will have significantly improved your salary for what is ultimately a job. The system might not be fair on clubs like us but that isn't your fault. And we will use that very same system when it suits our purpose to sign someone at the end of their contract from a club lower down the leagues. I hope you continue to progress as you have done so far and forge an excellent career that will reflect well on Barnsley Football Club.
Don't get me wrong - this situation has been precipitated by Grayson and Rowing - but all things considered I think he's strung us along - which is fine - he's able to given how the market is in football, but given the fact BFC took him on when United weren't bothered and he florished under Hill's guidance - I think he owed us a bit better than that. Say la vee as the Belgians say.
I see your point, but what else could he do? Sign on with us in March? I don't doubt for a second he made it relatively clear that he would leave if a Prem club came in for him privately but I genuinely don't see what else he could've done without cutting off his nose etc.
