Hope not. There may be logic in going back to the original design but that is simply not us. I cant see anything other than Burnley, West Ham and Villa when I look at that colour scheme. Red home. White away.

I dont want to spoil the party but

Our first colours are recorded as Navy Blue and Maroon and I fear the HFK website have got the colours the wrong way around. We only have a B&W photograph to go on but their interpretation looks like Claret and Sky Blue i.e. Aston Villa

    http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Barnsley/Barnsley.htm

Have a look at the photograph and you may see what I mean. I think it may be a very light Maroon body with Dark Blue sleeves.

You can tell the body of the shirt isn't Navy blue though. It could be a light blue, but it definitely isn't Navy as Turvey says our colours are described as.

Paradoxically, I've never heard of a light maroon either. I always thought maroon was a deep, dark red.

Re: would buy that in a heartbeat no probs

It's no that simple. THere's a deal in place with Nike and JustSport for the shirt.

These colours cant be delivered under that deal as a nike shirt which means we couldnt use it in the championship.

Well I can tell you now that the away shirt was decided a long time ago so any campaign is useless. The club aren't even able to acquire that style of shirt in those colours.

Re: I dont want to spoil the party but

I suspect that the colours on that site are correct (light blue body and maroon sleeves) as like you say the body of the shirt is definitely not navy in the photo but nor is it maroon.

Re: I dont want to spoil the party but

The first colours are recorded as Navy Blue and Maroon and I must admit I couldn't see the body of the shirt being Maroon but for an experiment I mocked up a a shirt and then made the image black and white...... What do you think ? Bare in mind that the photograph is probably from 1889 and the kit may have faded.

That's excellent mate certainly buy it.

Do you think anyone from Nike's marketing division is spending their Friday night cruising our message board?

.... and that is why everything about the Nike deal is wrong. They say what, where when and how, and they take the profits.
We end up with their bog standard designs with our badge slapped on.

The kit in this thread is one of their bog standard designs, so no problem surely? Unfortunately we can't have those colours. Arsenal seem to get some bespoke colours from Nike. We're Barnsley.

Exactly. Nothing hard about it. Other than they can't be arsed.

Its nothing to do with nike not being arsed. Barnsley do not deal with nike, we deal with just sport and it is them and us who couldnt be arsed to ensure that the deal involved bespoke kits.

Re: I dont want to spoil the party but

Hmm I still don't buy it. Yours looks different to theirs, much much darker for the main panel. I understand what you're saying about it being faded but surely it wouldnt just be the maroon that would fade? The navy would too and that doesnt seem to be the case. Is it at all possible that the colours are recorded as wrong and either navy or maroon should be something else?
