Sounds to me like Keith knows we need a creative midfielder but is taking the view that theres no point if we cant bring anyone in who's better than what we've already got. Wise imo, save the money for someone who can really improve the squad rather than signing another Dagnall just for the sake of it. It all seems to have gone quiet on Williamson. Dont think he's signed a new deal with Blunts yet so hopefully we may be able to do something there. Anyone heard owt?
Re: I don't think the manager is saying I hope we do recruit at least another central laiker. And if I was a betting man, I'd suggest we are likely to see a young loanee from the Prem, ala Drinkwater.
think 2 years is the maximum you can offer someone at that age (may be 3, unsure) so when he's old enough we can tie him down
I think we need a new CB too but on a positive note the likes of McNulty, Wiseman and Goldbourne will have a bit more Championship experience which they can hopefully put to good use. Edwards may be the player we need if he can stay fit all season.
Have to say I am quite excited by the potential of Digby. I agree that he doesn't look like an attacking midfielder, but he is more of a proper midfielder (like we used to have in football) who can do all the midfield jobs well (pass, tackle, intercept, read the game etc), he just isn't going to score many goals.
Always used to like Williamson but saw him play a few times for dem blades last year and he was gash on a stick.
