Butterfield was always going to shine last season if played central, Steele improved in the kicking department, early season, and released the ball quicker. O`Brien improved when playing with the midfield we had early doors but I`m afraid if there is no class in the centre we may see Jim revert back to his first season with us, which by the way wasn`t as bad as a lot made out on here although at times he didn`t know what a cross was. For me Hill has earned this season, but if the start is Daveyesque then who knows.
Butterfield WAS always going to shine, I agree. But my point was, all 3 of those I mentioned DID shine under King Keith. It's debatable whether they would have should Robins have stuck around. And I agree with your final sentence - Davey-esque start, and it'll be interesting to see how loyal our board are to the King.
It is debatable, he could have got a lot more from them. You have to balance it with players that didn`t shine for all managers. Not a lot to pick between recent managers much of a muchness.
I think a lot of people's beef is with cheif exec Don Rowing, who by all accounts, couldn't find his arse with both hands. With Cryne both ill, and in a lot of hot water over his past endeavors, Don Rowing seems to be at the forefrot of running the club, and he's not doing a good job to say the least. Keith's done well imo to say he's had his hands tied behind his bakc somewhat. He's working on a minoscule budget, and has signed some good players. Trouble last season for me was losing our entire midfield in the space of a fortnight. In the first half of the season ,we did well, because we overran the midfield. But with O'Brien, getting injured one game, then Butterfield the next, then Drinkwater and Vaz Te leaving, followed by Perkins getting injured, we just never recovered and divebombed down the table. Where Keith does seem to come under fire is from some of his signings. Where Done seems to have most fans won over, quite a lot can see the potential of Perkins and Dawson, the likes of McNulty, Wiseman, Golbourne and Dagnall seem to have been written off. Imo, McNnulty had a decent first half of the season, and his performances worsened when the midfield changed. I reckon Wiseman is pretty good going forward, but he's an awful defender, Goblourne is the opposite. And the porblem there is, we've played wiseman at fullback, and Golbourne on the left wing, they should be the other way around imo. An now i've lost patience with htis laptop which only puts the words on when i've stopped typing for 10 secomnds, so this is probably full of spelling mistakes. YOU REDS!!!
