One of my favourite Oakwell memories is being hit in the face by a ball....

I'd have been about 8 at the time, so it was all perfectly legal. Stewart Barrowclough was the guilty party, he didn't half leather it n'all, out of touch on the west stand near side where I was in my faithful spot next to the dug out. Bless him, he kept coming over to see if I was okay, even through the second half when he was on the other wing.

    Didn't do me any harm....

    Mine too

A rare shot from Mick McCarthy, missed the goal by a distance, hit me on the side of the head.

I'd like to claim it didn't do me any harm, but maybe it did. Although to be honest I was probably already mental.

Never been hit by a ball, but did manage to header the ball out of the Ponty End against Swindon back in 2003(?).

Yeah same here i was on the end of a sliced clearance from Tony Norman the former Sunderland 'keeper, I'd have been about 7 at the time and it didn't do me any harm either.

Just a ball in chest off Lars Leese down at Swindon in warm up for me, and nearly knocked off West Stand wall by a Taggart welly out of play.

    My NHS specs went flying....

....about two or three rows back in todays terms, bounced off the hard concrete and were fine. Built like tanks them things.

I can't understand BFC's stance on this H&S lark, well actually I can.... As if that doesn't slow down most folks working weeks enough already? What a bunch of fairies, no small coincidence we've just lost to Rotherham? Mmmmmmmm....

My brother is very proud of the fact that he was hit in the face by a wayward shot from Arjan De Zeeuw during a training session around 97 (wasn't renowned for his shooting ability was Arjan) this was long before health an safety went wild.
