I spoke to Don Rowing this morning with regards a meeting with BBSers and also asked for an update on the Pontefract Road End bar. As I mentioned previously, he had agreed to look into this again when the Supporters Trust met with him recently.

He's spoken to the police who have no objections (something the council will do as part of the process) and an application will be going into the council. Fingers crossed!

Let's hope it's draught lager and local ale, and not cans of Tetley **** and cans of lager. Only way will entice out of town centre pubs ahead of the game.

Begs the question why this hasn't been looked into sooner.

To be fair, they can work quickly if something is in it for them. At other times they can do anything to drag it out and delay a decision. Offer them free drinks and it'll be approved by Thursday.

without sounding thick, why is it up to the council.

The ground already has a license to sell alcohol. what difference does it make which stand they sell it in

The premises licence will only cover the sale of alcohol in pre selected areas of the ground. To open a new bar will need a change in the premises licence to include the new bar area. Quite a simple process really, its just amending the licence. But still has to go through the process and will invite objections etc but there shouldn't be any issues really.
