    Not true at all.

I started work on Tuesday after my first ever interview on Monday and got the job. Been working very hard 11:00-9:30 every day since and earning some good money for it, considering it was my first week.

    Congrats, mate.

Although I do suggest it depends which industry you are attempting to find employment within.

I mean, I could go get a job at Burger King tomorrow, but if I wanted to work for NASA I'd probably not be so lucky.

Cheers mate I appreciate it. Hope everything's working out well for you in Bradford to pal.

It's a fair point, I got a Job in sales and marketing for a business in Leeds city centre. So that's somewhere in-between burger king and NASA!

Not bad - finishing work before you started, does time travelling pay well?

Like I said if you want to have a high paid job you have to have the drive to go find one.

As for there mark about me being in with the Tories what a very weak minded insult because I dare to critise a large percentage of great Britons society.

Can I just say mate, that I have got a degree recently in global marketing and im really struggling to find anything and it isent for the want of trying or gaining the experience that I could have possibly gained so youve done really well to get that. However the jobs I have applied for have been as marketing assistant or as a junior marketing manager

Better to have a low paid job than none at all. Furthermore, once you are in work you will be looked at more favourably at interview for another job, than someone who has sat on his backside and done nothing.

It depends on your age current experience and how many people are competing for the same position On some occasions it can take 6 weeeks between applying for a job and either getting an interview or being passed over for the job.

A bit of luck doesn't go amiss either so when things are going well I'd recommend counting one's blessings rather than preaching to others who may not have been so fortunate. When I look back on my career (God, I sound old) much of what I thought at the time was my own brilliance and dedication turns out in retrospect to look increasingly like luck and opportunism.

    Congratulations, by the way.

There are indeed plenty of jobs out there if people are willing to go for them. Whether these are well paid or lower paid doesn't really matter, everyone should feel it is better to take a lower paid job than to continue living off the state/taxpayer, both in terms of self-respect and future employability prospects, however Deetee is right in that too many folk feel the world owes them a living. That's the most unfortunate outcome of a welfare system that has long since ceased existing purely for the genuinely needy.

The issue of people coming out of university with a degree then finding work in their preferred sector hard to come by is the end result of a number of different Governments' mistakes when fiddling with the exam/university system as much as anything else - sadly the reality employment-wise does not match up with the myth peddled by the state.

3 days after i finished Uni i applied for a sh*tty job at the ASOS factory just because I didn't want to live off the state, I didn't think it would be right seeing as though I can work even if it would be for minimum wage.

Yes there was some element of luck to me getting the job, but then again the interviewer said to me "There is 3 people to see after you so it's hard for me to make a decision. You have 30 seconds to tell me why you should get this job."

    Seek and you shall find.

Thanks to all those saying good luck by the way!
