we were 1-0 up in our first ever Premier League game.

Good times. Who else was there? Share some good memories of the day.

Aye, great day apart from the result. I had a bet on Redfearn as first goalscorer - couldn't believe it when I went in bookies and he was something like 8-1! Stuck a tenner on him!

If they had the sky sports live league table in those days we were officially top of the league at half time

We finished August in the top half as well.

Then came 8 defeats and sunk to bottom

I was on holiday on a campsite in Italy. Was well annoyed at my parents, my season ticket sat in the drawer at home. Listened to the game on World Service (it was the main match!). Coverage started at 3.05pm and it came on the radio that we were already 1-0 up! Sprinted down to the beach as fast as I could to tell my mum and dad. Got back in time for the next game. Thumped 6-0 by Chelsea. Thank god for beating Bolton next cos I don't think we won again until the end of October

Yes we were, I have the MOTD interview with Danny Wilson when he's told we were top at half time alphabetically.

It tok us until mid-October to beat a 'Premiership' team in Coventry on Sky. Only beaten our promotion colleagues Bolton and Palace before then.

When I get out the season DVDs, I like to focus on the second one, where every other game in league or cup we won or drew. It was basically the September and October months that sent us down.

I disagree, the final 8 games sent us down, i still say if we had beaten Tottenham at home when we drew 1-1 then we would have survived. That game at Leicester we knew deep diwn already we were goners, had we had it in our hands i reckon we'd have won that game.

They mentioned us on MOTD for being top of the Premiership at HT.

Yes was bad finish but if we had beaten mid-table Leicester and Villa at home rather than not scoring that would have been the 6 points needed.

Spurs at home was the cruch game but my point was we got no points for ages.

Really? Amazing - day that. Atmosphere was almost like a party. I remember the balloons going up at the start and the unbelievable cheer when that goal went in. We probably shpuld have got something out of that game - think I knew we were up against. After the game I jumped a train and went to my mate's stag do in York. After that is a blur :-(

The flying of the premiership flag from the top of the west stand was what gave me goosebumps. And Redfearn scoring the first goal in the prem after all he did was special.

Sadly we came down with a bump and getting pasted at home to Chelsea 6-0 in front of the sky cameras...on my birthday.... not good!

Remember being worried at how bad Paul Wilkinson was and thinking, we're not going to do well this year.

I was young and don't remember much, but when redders scored, it was such an epic moment. that picture of him celebrating in front of the fans is still probably the most iconic of that era.
