I've just seen that Rush are playing at Sheffield Arena and tickets are priced at £60 and £75 (plus add ons). I'm not thinking of going or anything but there must be 10,000 people willing to pay or they wouldn't get away with charging it. Would the Rush fans on here be willing to pay that? Most I have ever paid (for a gig not a festival) is £50 plus add ons to see Metallica at Sheffield Arena and although it seems a lot it was worth it. I suppose with a gig you're almost certain to enjoy yourself so there's as not much as risk as going to a football match and you don't get that many opportunities to see your favourite bands. I accept that arenas take a large cut and thankfully I don't like many bands that play arena shows but I doubt I would pay much more than £50 unless it was something really special. For a standing ticket at a venue like Manchester Academy I'd be willing to pay up to £30 but I think £20 is more reasonable. I think the increase in ticket prices is partially to offset the losses due to illegal downloading. Another argument against doing it.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa £55 for Stone Roses @ Heaton Park. Sold 'em though.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa I don't like to pay more than £20 for a concert, but a lot depends on what you get. A 45 minute set of lip-syncing from the boy-band face of the month is a little different to a 2 hour live concert with full pyrotechnics. It doesn't actually offset any losses from illegal downloading - the record companies have always screwed the artists and most bands now make their money from concerts and merchandizing. The big losers from downloading are the record companies.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Anything above £40 would probably be enough for me to say no thanks. Would have to be a band that I really love for me to pay that kind of money. 75 is just ridiculous
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Depends who it is and whether you have seen them before and whether you'd not be able to see them again live, perhaps farewell tour. I went to Roses at Heaton Park but you got 6 hours of music for the high price. Paid about £50 to see NGHFB in first UK gig at Manchester Apollo. Well worth it for smaller venue and to see the Godlike Genius. You need to decide if it is a treat worth paying
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Plenty of Roses tickets left with touts
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Concert prices are getting ridiculous - I balked at paying about £70 or £80 for Muse on their next tour, having seen them twice but they are excellent live. But I did pay £75 for that Rush gig you mentioned....something about them that I can't pass it up....oh and as the missus said - she's not bothered so it's only 1 ticket to buy! Most I paid was U2 at £90. I actually saw them at Madison Square Garden in New York on same tour and only paid £55 for a better close-up view! But I'm now just looking at ones and thinking "am I really that bothered about going?" I'd like to see Foo Fighters again but really can't be bothered going to outdoor stadium gigs.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa I think the most expensive tickets I've bought are £80 to see The Who. I've seen them a couple of times now and would probably pay the same to see them again although I think that would be about my limit to what I would pay.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa America definitely seems cheaper for gigs. I saw Arcade Fire at the Madison Square Garden and paid £30, and then paid £40 to see them a couple of months later in Manchester. Muse are excellent live. I used to work with the base player's uncle (both top blokes). He got us back stage passes to V Festival in 2004 and went to the after show party. Best day ever. I was trying to pretend I was all relaxed and cool chatting to all these rock stars but inside I was like an ADHD kid on a caffeine high without his ritalin
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa £9 ..... Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and the makers, Milburn and Harrisons eadmill, Sheffield - Sunday 22nd January 2006. Our kid had to queue at jacks Records for 2 hours to buy them mind ..... so add a further 50p for Sheff Hallamshire University Lecturer time http://bensevents.blogspot.co.uk/2006/01/arctic-monkeys-reverend-makers-milburn.html
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Paid £10 each for these two gigs (NME New Bands Tour) 2006: Maxïmo Park, Arctic Monkeys, We Are Scientists, Mystery Jets 2005: The Killers, The Futureheads, Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa That doesn't beat £8 to see Milburn at The Arches in Tarn.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa I went to the 2006 one in Glasgow - January I think. 17 years old, Monkeys new album had been released on the Monday, Scummy Man number 1 etc etc. F.cking great days. Then in May we went to Madrid to watch Monkeys and Milburn. Guestlist and all that. Clang.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa A big thank you for the that evening Mr Dyson .....I was there for that one ... a classic evening of BDTD mayhem..... the support band were the hyped indie youngsers, whose name name now escapes me !!!! Classic moment when the stocky promoting person jumped on stage yelling "get back" ... and his teeth fell out
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Went to that one ........ Maximo and Monkeys swapped Headline slots just for the night ...... a mosh pit to remember Also went the following year ... with the Cribs headlining..... The Cribs, Joe Lean And The Jing Jang Jong, Does It Offend You, Yeah?, The Ting Tings .... very scary circle pit for Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa I saw it at leads. They'd just broken and the hype was incredible. First act on and my feet didn't touch the floor for 30 minutes. Awesome.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa One Night Only. Getting 'em some weed and laiking cricket round side sticks out in my memory.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa I'm paying £9 to see a gig at Corp on Monday and the band have come all the way from Savannah, Georgia. Don't know how they manage it. Their new album reached number 30 on the Billboard chart too so they're practically megastars.
Re: How Much Is Reasonable To Pay For A Concert & How Much Would You Be Willing To Pa Nice one ... I remember them ..... from York ..... wonder what they thought to BDTD night at the Archers?
