Elbow were ace. Two perfect songs for the occasion too, especially for the athletes to come in to. Bloody commentators talked all over it though. Although I thought I was going to hate it, the kaiser Chiefs doing Pinball Wizard was actually really good. Loved the Kate Bush Running Up That Hill bit, and Imagine by John Lennon. Worst bits for me: Russel Brand. Why? Liam Gallagher? What was wrong with his voice? Why was Jesse J dressed like Morph? Spice Girls.
Worst part has to be One Direction. Nothing says "rich musical heritage" like a band created on a whim by Simon Cowell, specifically to win a musical talent contest. Jessie J is a close second for the worst part, her voice is awful.
it's a free country Mr J Tatty.... until i am told otherwise I shall post on whatever thread i feel the need to. hth
Personally I can't stand Elbow Think it took Gary Barlow a lot of ******** to get up on that stage and perform like he did less than a week after losing his unborn child.
Enjoyed, Elbow, Muse, Jessie J, the Who, the bird with the blond hair who sang "Read All about It" and even that Edward Sheerien feller who was named after a school. Disliked immensely Russell Brand miming to a Beatles "B"-side. wtf was he doing there - he can't even sing. Also it's time to pension off the likes of George Michael and Annie Lennox (Add to that McCartney and Elton John) instead of wheeling 'em out every time there's a major event on.
Thought that it was my set that was going wonky as most of it sounded awful. Wasn't George Michael a lovely mover ??? If that lot got paid for quality they would be owing money.
I wonder how many of the closing ceremony acts got tested for drugs ?? Bet they were shi**ing themselves !!!!
