I don't know whether they're better players But the salary demands of Mellis & Harewood obviously fall within our present budget. I thought both players were impressive for us under Robins. Then again, I never had much of a problem with Robins as our manager.
Wayne I agree with you, but because Hill said last season he was not looking to bring Harewood back(he then signed for a Chinese team I think) he was then deemed to be rubbish and no good, hemsworth particularly was less than gracious along with several others, like Mellis I thought Harewood was a good loan signing and if we can now afford his wages, I am glad he is here.
Re: I don't know whether they're better players Agreed again. But it is obvious that Robins was a rubbish manager, because he is not at the club anymore. Thats how it works on here mate, be it manager or player, once they leave they are automatically rubbish!
Good grief I actually agree with you on a footballing matter!! I'm now going to pop out and see if there's a blue moon in the sky!! <img src ="http://fact-o-tron.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/blue-moon1.jpg">
Re: Good grief Dont you start on about Man City as well!!! PS I knew you would start seeing things my way eventually
I might have got it all wrong But I suspect the point made by the original post is that when Robins got sacked, the club gave the failure of 'expensive loan signings' as a business plan as a reason. They then brought Keith in, because it was 'Einsteins definition of madness to keep doing the same thing and expect different results.' The players on loan at the time were Harewood, Mellis, Nouble, McShane and Trippier. Since 3 of them have returned, it might be reasonable to ask whether they've become 'cheap' when they were previously deemed 'expensive.' Personally i would think both Mellis and Harewood are on substantially reduced terms to when they were loaned, and in the case of Mellis there is a resale value if all works out, so both are astute buys in my book. But it's a reasonable point to make. Now, what's McShane up to these days??
Re: I might have got it all wrong I thought Robin's and Barnsley parted ways because of a disagreement over the budget for the next season - Robin's didn't want to work within the constraints that were being put on him, Keith Hill did. Or did I make all that up? Harewood is a big gamble IMHO, was good but maybe some doubt now - legs gone? We'll see, even without legs he's better than Draggers. Think Mellis could be anything - obviously got some class and could have a great season I'm just worried he could get kicked off the park by the Championship cloggers - he's a bit lightweight. The Polish dude is deffo solid Championship material - a great signing. The one area we are now difficient - with the exception of the obvious short-term prob with the goalie - is in defence, we need some knuckle dragging centre half to smash into the leagues strikers and leave the obviously classy Mcnulty to mop up the pieces.
Re: I might have got it all wrong I'd imagine he's cheaper than Andy Gray, and IMO he's a better player. Our problem with regards to injuries though, is still a worry. Surely it can't all be down to bad luck?
Re: I might have got it all wrong Robins left because he was given 12 months notice, not because he said he would not work within the budget, he asked for a few days to think it over and was given 12 months notice , he then decided he could not work under that scenario, not the budget. Not that it matters at all, he is no longer at the club and I never wanted him at the club, but his reasons for leaving were not because he would not work with less money.
Re: Good grief interestingly there is a blue moon this month- August 31st is the second full moon of the month otherwise known as a "blue" moon. Happens every 2-3 years. Not a lot of people know that. Zulus, thousands of em. You were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off...
Re: I might have got it all wrong Just to clear this up, can someone provide the definitive narrative as to what happened with Robins including first hand accounts from either the board or Robins directly quoted. Otherwise......
Wasnt Gray rumored to be on about 7,000 a week. Wouldnt have thought Harewood would be on more than 4/5,000K a week.
