You said last night that DR said that the club aren't talking to to Martin Craine or martins reps, right?

BARNSLEY: Reds in talks with Cranie

Martin’s got outstanding ability, it would be great if we could do a deal,” revealed Hill, speaking exclusively to The Star.

“It’s a shame players with such quality haven’t got clubs at this stage in the season, but that could be our gain.”

in talks means to me, they might have started?

Hill has a budget. He finds players then goes to the don when he wants to sign them. Don doesnt know when he gets players in on trial and doesnt need to... until it comes to the contract/monies part.

Does Keith Hill state in that article, that we are in talks with him?

As for Don, he has a club to run, and isn't always likely to know every Tom, Dick or Harry that we invite in for training. I'm sure however, that if we were keen on a player after training, that Don would then get involved.

We've been negotiating with his representatives. He would be a good recruit."

thats a quote from Keith Hill.

Now i don't think keith Hill will have the power to talk money with players reps or whoever.

    You answered my question. Cheers.

Hope we recruit him. Need another ball playing center half. And at 25, he's got resale value.

don't know much about him tbh merlin.

It was just that Gally put up a post that says Donald aid they haven't spoken to him yet.

But that Star article seems to state they have been talking to him and reps.

Maybe things have materialised since Gally said that...? Not sure.

But he's a decent player. I've read up on him on the Coventry forum, and he seems exactly the sort of player Keith likes - a broken toy.

    Gally is spot on

Don Rowing said last night we hadn't entered into negotiations with Martin Crainie. Also, Mr Rowing said he knew nothing about Crainie being at the club when asked by Radio Sheffield the other night. According to him, there is nothing unusual in this sort of situation and it isn't a problem.

And don't you think it maybe preliminary talks so Keith gets an idea of what its likely to cost before asking don?

No I didn't! Are you incapable of reading and understanding English? Don said *he* wasnt in talks with Martin Cranie and that *he* hadn't spoken to Keith about him. That's not to say he isn't at the club having a trial and that Keith Hill isn't in talks with him! Perfectly normal but doesn't make him a liar something you seem quite desperate to prove for some bizarre reason.

He has a budget to work to and will have an idea of what sort of wages a player is worth therefore he needs to know if a player is within his budget. How do you think he finds this out?

Do you think he wastes time with trials for players that won't be in our wage bracket?

Ok, from what i've listen to the managers don't normally get involved in contract talks.

Well he does waste time with players that seem to be out of our range, Martin? Gally.

Hill identifies his targets and/or gets them in on trial. Hill begins preliminary talks with the player/player's representatives, more than likely to find out if they have any real interest in joining, and if their demands are realistic. I'd imagine The Don then steps in when it gets to the finer details of the contract.

Now stop trying to wind folk up.

I'm going to hate myself for this but he does have a point with Martin.
