Expect social services around any minute, especially if you are a caring parent . ..

Yes. Make a real spoilt brat of him, instead of showing him how stupid he has really been. How do you think people have coped in the past when we didn't have hospitals, plaster casts & lots of toy shops & mcDonald's?

You're worried sick and I bet once he's got the cast on he'll love it showing it off to everyone. Hope all goes well.

Thanks everybody, he's now out and luckily he's had no wires or pins and they managed to to
Re- break it and it's now in a cast.

Bet mum didn't expect a night in Scarborough hospital.

Can I just say all the staff at the hospital are great a true credit to the NHS.

Agreed. When my grandparents lived in Scarborough both unfortunately spent a significant amount of time in the hospital and the staff and nurses were fantastic.

A lack of funding and equipment (for the want of a better word) ultimately proved my grandads downfall, but the hospital itself was certainly not at fault . . .

Hope he's ok; see if you can get him down to Oakwell and get his cast signed by the players. He'll love that.

Hope he's doing well now. If it's any consolation to you, now the immediate agony is over, he will love the attention of having a cast (is it still called a "pot" in Barnsley?) and being the special one for a while. He'll also bounce back in no time if my daughter is anything to go by. When she was 5 she broke her tibia (leg) in 2 places and was in a cast from thigh to ankle for 3 weeks. Only 3 weeks after that she was back running around and jumping off walls - much to my horror. Not the best holiday for you - hope it gets better from here for you all.

And he can sign half of theirs ho-ho!!!
But that's some good news I suppose. Rights of passage for a little boy really, though to be avoided if possible. It's a practice I've carried well into adulthood - I've broke four arms altogether, one in two places when falling down drunk in the snow and right outside the hospital I should have gone into but was so pissed I thought I'd leave it til the next morning. It is for reasons such as this that God created women. :)
