Last saw them on their last ever UK gig, which was headlining Reading on the Sunday night 1992 - 20 years ago!!!
Quality band, some of his lyrics were very deep, bit like Ian Curtis.... and both suffered the same ending.
Kurt Cobain - quite possibly the most over rated individual in the history of rock music. I have an album released in 1993 which says in the liner notes "don't confuse lack of talent with genius". I'm certain that was written with him in mind. There were miles better bands in that "scene" - Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Gruntruck, Screaming Trees, Paw. I suppose they lacked the singer who wore once a dress.
Funny, my header reads "any Nirvana fans?" as I'd found something interesting - not does anyone fancy having an un provoked, ill-imformed, egotistical dig at Kurt Cobain? Your posts say more about you and your aggressive negativity than they do about Nirvana, BFC or any given subject.
Aggressive?? Get a grip. Why is it ill informed because I think other bands of that "scene" were better?
There you go again. Anger issues. You quoted a unspecified cliche as substance for your argument, it's not well informed is it? If you want to make bravado statements like that, show folk the respect of knowing what you are on about. If you don't like Nirvana why did you open the thread, just to have a dig? Did you even open the link? And I have a grip, not saying where though. I won't be returning to this thread now, you've spoiled it.
There's an albums worth, it's well haunting in a nice interesting way. It's called Nirvana Lullabies.
Kurt Cobain had a quality voice! Nevermind and In Utero are two quality albums. Don't think they even hit their peak, always wondered how the band would have evolved had he never took his own life (or got murdered)
In this country i dont think they would have got any bigger, the likes of Oasis and Blur would still have dominated the British music scene. I think Cobain would have made a few more classic albums though, his songwriting was amazing.
I really think they would still be making music now, however The Foo Fighters wouldn't be around obviously.
I can't open the link as I'm at work. Anger issues? Deary me. If you post something on a public forum people are going to make comments - some to your liking, others not. If I posted something about Alice In Chains it wouldn't bother me in the slightest if you replied and said Kurt Cobain was a better guitarist than Jerry Cantrell. You'd be wrong but I wouldn't be upset or offended.
Who cares who is the best band? Best guitarist or whatever? Since when was that important? For me J Mascis would blow them all away, but who cares what I think? Oneupmanship doesn't interest me at all, it usually infers insecurity of a person's own ideas and opinions. Your post wasn't offensive at all, just ridiculous and pointless to the thread. It was defensive if anything. I really couldn't give a toss, but you shouldn't allow argumentative negativity overshadow any valid point you are trying to make, because folk just won't hear it.
Having seen the video I had to read the title to tell what song it was. Bit pap really to be fair. PS -I like Nirvana and have all albums and their special edition CD/DVD case.
Colour and the shape, There is nothing left to lose and In your honor are ny favourites. Self titled album is decent also. One by one contains only two good tracks, and the latter two for me are all filler no killer. All in my honest opinion of course
