If a decent offer, makes sense to sell. He's out injured at the moment (was it for 3-4 weeks). By that time a few should be back plus any loan additions.
if we've received 750k for a player signed for less than 100k and who is out of contract at the end of the season then thats great business. Additionally if we've used some of this money to offer 3 year deals to Stones and Digby then it's already been well spent.
Good luck to the lad. He always put the effort in, and seemed to be getting better but he won't exactly be a big miss to us. He'd have a great game and then half a dozen games were he wasn't even noticed. Considering what we signed him for, and how long he had left on his contract, it seems like a no brainer (if we've got a decent fee). Hopefully the money will be used on a replacement for him, and maybe another addition.
Does BFC want anyone to drive Matty Done down there? Im available till 6pm so would be more than willing to do so!
honestly, I am/will be amazed if we sell Matty Done for somewhere close to £750,000 - I just cannot see where that figure would come from. He looked fairly good on a few of the occasions he came on last season and injected a bit of life into the game, but on other occasions he looked a little lost - £750k?? I just cant see how we can turn that down?
But why would we sell to one of our rivals, whilst having no replacement lined up? Palace obviously rate him and think he will improve their team, and I think they will be one of the teams we need to finish above this season. If Hill thinks that he can replace Done with a better left sided player before the transfer window, for the same money, on the same wages, then fair enough.
There won't be one, not at that price. To ask for 30% share in a future transfer on top of 750k is not really fair for a player like Done. It is more of a bargaining tool when a player goes for under the the apparent market value. I certainly hope we have one on Vaz Te, which might come to fruition sooner than we think if certain rumours are to be believed. Be good to hear a word from Don on that one because it is potentially millions if it exists. 750k might make a 12/24 month Hammill deal more viable financially that's not taking into account club or player opinion. He can't expect to maintain a 16k wage after flopping at Wolves/Premier league - unless of course he coasts through the remainder of his contract there. A 500k transfer fee might put us in the position where we could offer him 8k for 12 months. He was Robins' boy though, no-one's considered that. I think we should let Rimmo do the player negotiations, Hammill adored him.
Hill has mentioned there is a sell-on clause. No idea what it is but we paid sub 100k for him so if it is 30% of profit Rochdale will be due about 200k from it. It's plausible to me, he was only 22 when we signed him.
Its a decent offer if we have a decent player to come in and fill the gap, this money could follow the same route has the Butterfield money.
Rochdale website, their CEO Colin Garlick is very good with add ons , they are still getting payments every time LeFondre, O`Grady and Lambert score
