Shcoking performance, think it's about as bad as a Championship team can play. Really was embarrassing to watch. The saddest thing for me is that no-one even put the effort in, I can accept being crap but not when you don't try. Too many simple mistakes, no closing down in key areas, Harewood and Davies didn't win a ball between them, Mellis and Dawson gave them way too much time in midfield, Etuhu didn't do anything productive, Foster and Wiseman were a disgrace to the shirt, as were the 4 full backs who played, none of them offered any protection whatsoever, and what can you say about the keeper?! If you look at the goals, 4 of the 5 came from balls out wide that weren't closed down (free kick excepted) properly and there was no marking in the area. God knows what happened for the 2nd, no closing down and Gonzalez just left it for some bizarre reason. The only player that came out with any respectability at all for me was Cywka. Tried hard, created a couple of half chances for himself. He wasn't good by any stretch of the imagination but he worked hard. Suppose it's impossible to do much productive work when your surrounded by 10 players that aren't up for it. Gonzalez (2) Dreadful performance. Stones (4) Slightly less poor than the rest of em, I'll give him a break cos he's young. Foster (1) Worst player on the pitch, beaten to the ball every time. Wiseman (2) Not quite as bad as Foster, but still *****. Golbourne (3) His stupid tackle gave them the free kick for the first goal and put him on a yellow for the rest of the game. Etuhu (3) Hard to fault him too much, he's just no very good. Mellis (3) He only gets a 3 as he won us the penalty. Dawson (3) Runs about a lot, no quality. Didn't even run around effectively today. Cywka (6) Best of a bad bunch. Harewood (2) Did naff all up front, barely held a ball up all day. Davies (3) As bad as Harewood but he scored a penalty so gets a higher rating. Overall, we were shocking.
Total respect to you for making the journey but if I were you i'd save your money because with this defence there will be a few more heavy defeats to come.(Unless Crainie can make a difference)
I'm in Luton so it's not nearly as far as those from Barnsley. The AMEX Stadium is a lovely ground but a bit of a nightmare to get to.
got back to penistone about 9 o'clock, shocking performance from 1st minute to last. now the time has come for me to stop travelling watching inept displays every other week, no pride in the red shirt, no desire to win tackles and no passion to win a football game !!! don't mind losing games but lets show them what were made of, battling barnsley !!! 297 fans made the trip yesterday and i salute everyone of them that went. but the time has come for me to keep the queen's english in my pocket.
Gonzalez - 1 poor everything, glad to see the back of him Stones - 3 had a poor game but did look interested for a while Foster - 0 didn't know he was on the pitch Wiseman - 0 see Foster Goulbourne - 3 wasn't too bad but could have been off for me after 3 minutes Cwyka - 7 the one and only bright light Mellis - 2 won the pen but he's too lazy to be a footballer, crown green bowling may be more to his choice Dawson - 2 looked tierd and I can't work out why an off day for him Etuhu - 3 not sure what to think of him, but Matty Done is better Harewood - 1 had a very bad game Davies - 1 too lazy to be a footballer Hill - 0 Sings a centre half but starts his right back love child at centre half then brings his new signing on at Left Back 4-1 down, didn't even bring on a striker. No one seemed bothered yesterday, Very bad day at the office
Time was I'd have been on top of that 297 but I've made the decision to rein away trips in. Just can't justify the cost anymore
