Young Nudger has started it so it can be dragged up at a later date. He wants to be proved right. He wants to prove others wrong. That's the whole point of the thread. It's not others that may be mischievous at a later date, it's the whole ******* point.

    Hence I'm not playing.

No idea. Definitely not at work, though. Honest.

He's done one of these with pretty much every manager we've had for it to be used 'in evidence'. Strangely, they don't seem to come back when it's his opinion that turns out to have been ********.

Yes, but to my mind this isn't needed. Every Barnsley player and manager needs our support. If the team are not doing as well they need it even more so. When Hill was swaggering around in the early stages of last season I didn't particularly like him and thought he ought to keep his mouth shut, but I always thought he was the right man for the job. He seems to have developed a lot more humility in the second half of the season and is all the better for it. And I think the fans have finally grown to accept the financial situation, so he doesn't need to keep bringing that up.

I am so much more comfortable that the way that Barnsley are going about things is the right way to do it than if we suddenly had a rich foreign backer and started chucking the money around. For the first time since Wilson's days we have a team that I feel I can identify with. I think we have spent very wisely this summer and when the players start coming back from injury I think we'll surprise a few teams.

There will be people on here still backing him when we are relegated before Easter.

Tell you something, I'm about ready to chalk **** on football.

This thread - as you rightly have analysed - is a big part of why it's just not fun anymore.

The Premiership is a farce funded by amounts of money that could go a long way to solving social, education and health problems in the UK, and it's skewed the Championship so much that it isn't a competition any more, plus the fact in my opinion my club's being run (off field) by incompetents, and I'm just not really enjoying it anymore. I'm from Barnsley and my home town of which I'm psychotically proud has a football team - that's my 'connection' but beyond that it's getting to the stage where I don't give a toss.

Yes - shouldn't even be debated. A win on Saturday and 6 points from our opening 4 games is a very good return. I weren't expecting 6pts from the opening 6.

I definitely wouldn't, not even after ten pints.

    That's the question, right?

As The Full Ponty has always said: Football is ****. I don't really care about it any more. It's just about money. I thought the Olympics this summer really showed what sport can be all about. Football is a million miles away from that.

I do care about Barnsley though. And after thinking he was a dick for the first 6 months of last season I'm starting to think Keith Hill can be someone to believe in. He seems to want to do things the right way. But I'm also worried he just might not have it.

So I'm not going to put a yes or no in a stupid thread designed exclusively to win an argument 6 months or a year down the road.

We all want Barnsley to do well. As Keith Hill is our manager we all hope he can do well as that means the club will be doing well. I'd like nothing more than Keith Hill to be our manager for the next 20 years because that will mean we'll constantly be doing alright and have no need to sack him. But that doesn't mean I can see in to the future and read how successful we're likely to be. So I'm ****** if I'm going to tie my colours to the mast just so I can be berated by one side or the other who are desperate to be proved right. When did wanting us to do well not become enough?

It's not enough to follow Barnsley - you have to show that you are smart enough to suss out weak players and the manager's failings early doors and then you're better than those who think/hope they'll do well.

Opposed to that is being slavishly behind BFC so much that the slightest deviation from total acceptance of everything emans you want us to fail.

    bag of ***** really.

We've gone on and on about the financial situation that it's got to the point where it can be used as justification for ANY failing. People's expectations are becoming lower and lower and that's why we are happy to stick with Hill and the awful ***** he has brought to the club.

    Yes.

oh and Nudge I merely called you deluded for saying Hills a better manager than Wilson and then i pointed out that Hills performance is worse than both MR and Simon Davey.

I understand the constraints that surrounds Hills job but it doesn't stop me being angry/disappointed when we don't get results etc.
