Not sure about "starting to allow more competition" - in baseball there have been 9 different champions in the last 11 years (last retained in 2000), in NFL there have been 10 different winners in the last 14, it's not been retained since 2005.

Spot on Gordon. RVT was on £1k a week and if anyone's on much over £3k, I'd be very surprised. Factor this into any discussions about why player x/y/z has joined another club over Barnsley....

I heard Vaz was on a basic of £700 a week. People have been over-estimating our players wages for years. People talking about paying players £10k a week are miles off, the figures just don't add up, we can't possibly be paying anything like that.

That's the problem though, someone spouts any old ***** and before you know every man and his dog are repeating it as gospel.

So defend Hill to the hilt and slate Robins. Sums you up.

    Why?
Hassell at 150k a year isnt good.
someone who earns 100k say will be worth that and it will have been worked at by the club.

Hassell signed a 3 year contract? and now hes not worth that anymore.

I would have thought JAy was on a lot more than that DeeTEE. 7/8K would have been my guess and it didnt turn out to be a good deal in the end.

I thought he started well then got injured, people where on him on here like they are with Scott Wiseman and its like they need someone to pick on which in my minds a bit sad TBH.

So you know more than subsequent managers of Barnsley that have played him and signed him to new contracts do you?

Isn't that your usual argument when you don't agree with other peoples opinion of a player?

Keith Hill didn't do that deal. This was a deal done in 2010.

Hes got worst IMO and not a little bit.

I wouldn't expect him to be here past the summer unless he takes a massive paycut.

He won't be here full stop when his contract runs out as he wouldn't be offered a deal even on £500 a week as Hill clearly doesn't rate him.

The only bit that I agree with you about is that no player is worth what they are paid. £150k a year for playing football is a very good salary and even the top players shouldn't be getting much more than this a year. By the way thats £150k a year not a week. Footballers are not worth anything like the money they get.

So what you are saying overall is, bobby is a **** player, a **** role model and has a vile potty mouth who you can't wait to see leave.

But you're doing exactly that with Bobby Hassell. Using the same premise of your own argument, if it's sad to be picking on Wiseman then it's also sad to do the same with Hassell. Trying to justify the right to berate one player who you don't like/rate, but refusing someone else the right to do the same to a player you like/rate would suggest the epitome of hypocrisy. In other words, "Don't do as I do, do as I say".

    Right biglil.

I make one comment about a player. Some thing in that post wasn't nice and i did say i shouldn't have put that but i haven't posted about a player before a game.

I made a comment about Hassell after the game against Wolves and Brighton. i said i thought he made 2 mistakes or more. Thats all. The constant comments about Wiseman are more in my opinion. He was getting stick before 2.45 on Saturday, yes the game didn't kick off for another 15 mins plus and he was getting stick.

I'll be honest BigLil, i do question Hassell in a number of ways, Warm up been one but i will not keep putting this over and over again.
