Will you be attending the Blackpool game? If so, is this off the back of two good home performances, the fact that it's only £12 or a combination of both?

The attendance at this game will give the club an idea of whether or not it's feasible to reduce prices on a more regular basis. Bet we don't get much more than 10,000 home fans.

As always it will depend on how much the club promote the offer. Don't bother telling anyone it's cheaper and nobody will come

Surely in a small town like Barnsley word of mouth will be the biggest promotion along with local radio and papers. I'm hoping for at least 16.000 at least!

No, word of mouth isn't the biggest promotion. It's been proven in the past that unless the club gets its arse in gear and advertises the offer then there will be no significant increase but when they do market their offers they have sold out.

Difficult. I have successfully added 10 on to the attendance at this game today. Strangely they hadn't heard of it either. So word of mouth plays a part, but obviously the advertising hasn't reached many the club thought it might...

The club are not doing enough to promote this great idea.. FACT. I was there yesterday and very few were aware of the prices.

Get your @rses in gear and advertise it.

Posters in town, official website, dee dar fm, the chron. Maybe the club could even set up a stall in town and sell the tickets there along the high street?

    Come on you reds!!!!

I will be there, but the club is a disgrace with the advertising. No doubt they will push it onto the trust to gain fans

on the flipside if manu/chelsea/arsenal/mancity came rolling into town in january for the fa cup and the club charged £40 do you think it wouldnt be close to or even a sell out, people will moan about the price if they want to but you can guarentee if the team are doin well or a big gun comes to town people will suddenly find money they didnt have before

Because its £12.50 I'll be going, went to the Boro game due to having a mates season ticket. I'd rather spend my money on other things rather than football these days.

They do need to get out on the streets with flyers at least. Surely they can afford to hire a few young uns to get out and about for a few days.

100% agree, 2 weeks to go till the game now. Surely BFC staff who work in the marketing/sales department read this board...

People who live in Barnsley know there is a professional team in the town!! The marketing argument doesn't work for me. Folk just rather post online their thoughts after a game than attended. If people don't want to come and contribute to atmosphere let them stay away

I agree. The people of Barnsley need to realise that we have a very good football club playing in one of the best leagues in world football.

they wont though, they want someone to shove a flyer through there letterbox just to remind them, even though the flyer will be chucked straight in the bin with the rest of the junkmail

    Correct. Effective marketing is essential.
