Rather be bottom 6 than top 12 in League 1

Sooner or later folk will have to admit that the club has put on deals which can see you spend as little as a fiver a week (by buying saver vouchers) to get 23 games the following season.

The Don aint very bright is he?

What did he expect?........ dismal showings away from home, £28 to get in and no decent looking signings etc etc. The man appears to be as dim as an energy saving light bulb.

The problem the club has is fighting apathy amongst the "supporters".

The other problem is that half the sad cnuts in Barnsley like to pretend to be Man U or Liverpool fans. It's embarrassing. These people are as responsible for killing the game as Sky is.

If (big if) we were to get promoted to the premier league the ground would be sold out every week to legions of loyal fans who hadn't missed a game since 1987.

Barnsley cannot sustain a Championship side long term

maybe this season, maybe next, but at some stage the perennial fight against relegation will eventually catch us out and we'll be down to League 1 where our level of support equates, we'll be an average League 1 outfit and it will be a long hard struggle to get out. There are no Russian or Arabian millionaires ever going to be interested in Barnsley, there's no untapped potential support, there's no historical significance, we are where we are. And with c.n,ts like theerv knocking about, even if I won the Euro millions, my money would be going nowhere near Oakwell.

    Football is ****.

The anoying thing is that we have enough absent fans to make a difference.

no untapped potential support? not sure I agree with that as I've been to Oakwell countless times when there have been 16k plus Barnsley fans in the ground, and not just during the premier league season.

The problem of supporting Man Utd or Liverpool has always being there getting youths interested and building up support is a major issue. There are a lot more different activities for the younger generation these days. I'm struggling to get my kids interested in attending games I've giving up with my eldest and struggling with my youngest, Preece's article this week is interesting regarding the ground and atmosphere and has a lot to do with the decline in support.

I'm still pinning my hopes on Mido to get my youngest a Barnsley shirt on his back !

It's getting worse though now because football coverage accounts for a greater percentage of TV airtime than ever before both on Sky and terrestrial. That and the growth of message boards and other internet coverage make it increasingly easy for people to become "involved" with a club from their armchair or the boozer.

'No untapped potential'............I would say the opposite applies to Barnsley
That is to say.............the potential has never been realised

For years now we have just been.... plod..... plod.... plodding.... along the bottom of the league.
Surely The Don must have known that the fans would just drift away if this was going to be the stratergy.
Football fans HATE to see their team struggle.........and if this struggle continues year on year then there is going to be an adverse affect on the fans

the club should drop the prices to 20 quid asap, they need to get fans interested again, and the blackpoool extravaganza is the perfect place to start,,,no point wainting till its too late,,,we need some arses on seats and its not going to happen at £28.
