And the pigs don't care about us... http://thechriswhitingshow.wordpress.com/2012/08/28/2012-football-rivalry-census-results/
Blue Pigs - Utd - Us - Leeds Red Pigs - Weds - Leeds - Us/West Ham Pikeys - Leeds - Us - Utd/Weds Rotherham - Donny - Weds - Chesterfield Leeds - all rivals from 1970's when they were famous, teams they won't play again for years. Only 1200 fans throughout the football league took part in the survey.
Every time they publish this survey the Leeds fans pick Manure as their number one rivals. Its just a shame that the average Manure fan under 45 probably regards Leeds in the same way they regard every other Championship side. This just about sums up the mentality of the average Leeds fan. Unbelievable.
It says the poll was taken by 1200 people covering 92 clubs meaning on average only 13 respondents per club took part. Paper .... written on and all that
Could date back to late 60`s early 70`s when they were in Div 2(2nd Tier) culminating in their only season, like us, in top div 74/75.
Yeah for 92 clubs, 1200 is not a lot of people - some of these could be based on the opinion of literally one fan. Leeds are a lot less laughable on this latest one - saw one about two years ago and Leeds had their rivals as Man Utd, Liverpool and Chelsea! Basically considering themselves a top four club in the bottom of the Championship. Sometimes I think it would be 'nice' to have a reciprocated main rival but most main rivalries are geographical first and then based on success (or lack thereof) second and we seem to be sandwiched in between other clubs with big rivalries. At the end of the day, it's still sweet to put on over on the neighbours and we've got six chances to do that this season. Wednesday and Leeds fans will say Barnsley is 'just another game' to them - for some of the seriously deluded ones that may the case, but I've been to loads of these occasions and on the day the fans are generally far more desperate to win than they would have been the previous week against someone like Ipswich or Palace, for example.
since when have we had something against huddersfield? dee dars and scum fair enough... why not the scabs?
Still laughing at Leeds naming Manure as their main 'rival'.... a rival to what? I half expected Wednesday's main rival to be Barcelona, though.
They sure are. And did you know, that Lionel Messi attended the 'Carlton Palmer Soccer School' as a child? Neither did I. Or Lionel.
