Eric Brook 28 Dec 1926 in a 5-0 victory at home to Fulham

Strange season the 1926-27 season. We beat South Shields 6-1 at home, but lost to them 7-1 away. We beat Blackpool 6-1 at home and lost to them 6-1 away. We also beat Crewe 6-1 that season, it was a popular scoreline. And we lost 9-1 away at Wolves. In a 3 and a half week period from Mon Dec 27th to Sat January 22nd we played 6 games and won them all 3-2, 5-0, 4-0, 6-1, 3-1 and 6-1 scoring a total of 27 goals at an average 4.5 per game.

These are my memories of the 1926-27 season.

    Mine is also

Barnard's against Huddersfield. Most emotional was Marcelle's against Bradford.

Has to be Barnard's. It is right up there in my favourite goals of all football. My fatha reminded me that there are loads we haven't seen in that 125 yrs. Could have been some crackers.

Best I've seen by a Reds player is Barnard's, but I was in a pub in Marylebone watching that, so the best one I've seen whilst I've been at Oakwell is probably Howard's v Cardiff. My favourite, however, was scored by Clint.

    Barnard's against Hudds.

Most of Redders' goals, and Barnard's tbh. And a couple of Bruce Dyer's were a bit special at Oakwell.

Shipperley's against the Blunts at home, where he runs through, shrugs off defender, nods down the ball, then clips it past the keeper.

Steve Hayward's away at Burnley was a screamer.

    Georgi Hristov away at Blackburn.

    Shipperley again away at Blackburn.

Hignett's hat-trick goal against Walsall at Oakwell - a delicate lob from the angle of the box, int last minute to win it.

Nardiello freekick at Millennium Stadium was an emotional one. As was Mike Sheron's header to make it 3-0 against Wednesday under Parkin.

Butterfield's screamer at Birmingham last year, the Andy Gray team goal against Coventry last year, and most of Vaz Te's...

Oh, and that ONE goal that Dave Regis scored.....

I was fond of the goal by Steve Cooper against Stoke on a foggy evening at Oakwell which brought the Gymnastic style flips that MOTD used for seasons in their title music segment.

That night the atmosphere was electric and Stoke brought about 7000, all with Inflatable pink panthers etc. The club expected about 13,000 there and there was probably double there.

Great night of proper football, played by proper football players, playing for proper football clubs not spoiled by money.

Maybe that's the 1 im thinking of rather than the one against the Blades. I remember him scoring a winner with a chip/lob in the last minute.

    Barnard yes, also Big Trev.

Aylott got one against Brighton that was pretty special and also scored a nice header v Man City in the League Cup (same Cup run), which although it was a brilliant cross / header was also memorable for the loudest cheer I ever heard in a football ground and is unlikely to be heard inside Oakwell again in my lifetime at a guess.
