    Had a look at ticket prices for Blackburn game. Their prices range from £15 to £22 and we are a catagorey B They also do 2games for 1, and 1 game for 2.
    Come on Barnsley FC lets get the pricing right. Does not the Blackpool game tell us anything. If you are on a budget and you cannot afford £25 to £28 then no matter how you put it you cannot afford it. A lot of lads would love to watch Barnsley but you have priced them out.

    Difference is Blackburn are getting £16m parachute payments.

    If people can't afford they can't go. Football clubs are businesses not charities.

    I don't buy the Football clubs are businesses not charities argument ... Saturday's attendance/extra income generated proved ... it CAN work.

    Bigger crowds incur extra costs. It would be interesting to see how much profit we made compared to normal match days.

    I have an idea Mr Troutman.......lets put the prices UP further.....then less people will come, we can shut a couple of stands and save on gatemen, stewards etc.

    Blackburn have always had cheap tickets. And football clubs are community focal points first and foremost. And if a business can not offer a product or service that people can afford then it has to address it's own viability.

    I'm an advocate of offering advance season tickets to be paid in 12 monthly instalments prior to the following season, about £30 a month. And offer a concessionary ticket for all supporters who live 50 miles+ from Oakwell and have travelling expenses to and from games to consider. I'd certainly buy into that, it's a £100+ day out minimum just for myself. It isn't as if there aren't any empty seats.

    There is a floating fan base of around 10,000 possibly more, who attend matches when they can. People think there are are 3-4000 part-timers but the pool is a lot bigger than that and they will all turn up on the big occasions and sporadically at other times.

    It will take a flexible and imaginative ticketing policy to sweep everybody up and into the ground. It has to be fair to season ticket holders and the administration has to be financially viable.

    I have even considered means tested season ticket prices, but it's very early days on that one. :smile:

    I just disagree that people think lowering the ticket prices to £20 will wave a magic wand.

    Extra income? Where is that from?? Club quite clear they were set for a loss on Saturday. I like how people scour the 92 league clubs and if one happens to be doing a cheap deal, they feel like Barnsley has to match it!

    I heard on the radio that the club had set a target of 14k on saturday. Surely that was for break even? Why set a target which resulted in a loss?

    Surely we've done the extra income to death? 8,000 extra paying punters for Blackpool @ £12.5 > 2000 extra paying punters for Bristol City @ £28 .....
    We could go on about the "additional, non match day ticket spend" that the 6000 extra punters may spend ... eff me .. I bought the young'un a BFC scarf @ £8.50 !!!!!
