we dont want em quite happy how we are! keep on playing like this and the crowds will steadily rise as they'll all want to come see the barnsley!
Can you imagine what Hillcroft could do with a little bit of money, what they are doing at the moment with none is purely a miracle. You would have thought any potential buyer would have been around the club already and seen 1st hand what these guys are all about, why anyone would want to replace them with the work ethic they have and the fact they are working with hands tied behind their back financially. Loosen the purse strings a little and let them show what they can do if a little money is available, but again this is just media speculation so lets see what happens in the coming weeks
WOW!!! Sounds like we were actually pro active in finding an investor which is what we should be. Wonder what sport links the Italians have back home. I'd be happy with a takeover so Patrick can relax without the pressure of owning us. Wouldn't want the management team gone. Hardly did anything for Watford.
Don't want them We're doing fine as we are. It'd be nice if more people came down to Oakwell, but we're balancing the books with the attendances we've got and putting together a decent side. Last night was absolutely fantastic. One of the reasons it meant so much is we all know Keith Hill has put the side together on a shoe string. Doing things right, working to a budget, paying our own way makes supporting Barnsley special. I don't want us to be the play thing of rich business men who have no connection with the club. I want to hear Keith Hill giving the press hell, speaking with integrity about how we're taking the right path in a world awash with ill gotten gains, while at the same time sending out his team to destroy the opposition. I want romance not a lorry load of money. Money means absolutely bugger all to me.
Re: Don't want them good points jay but the reality is patrick wants to sell so it might aswell be to some rich bugger than another peter doyle scenario
Re: Don't want them Sorry about the double post, t'interweb went unresponsive and asked me to submit again. I am happy that we are living within our means and setting an example to others but find it frustrating when our polished gems like Vaz Te or our developed gems like Butterfield can be prised away so easily. Don't get me wrong, I think every player should not be held back if the opportunity of the premiership comes along but it would be nice if we were able to offer them more in order that they might stay and can achieve the premiership (or the upper reaches of championship) with us. With the extra investment hopefully crowds will return meaning with additional sponsorship we can offer the extra wages and still be complying with the fair play rules.
Re: Don't want them It all depends on what investment we'd be talking about. Millions and millions chucked at the squad by some arsehole who thinks he can buy happiness would not be welcomed by me but a million or so invested properly to increase our income streams in the future would be most welcome. Sean Lewis was the man for us if only he'd had some money. He came up with ideas and plans which we are putting in place now. In 2003 he announced plans to install plasma TVs in the concourses to show games before matches and announced that he wanted to revolutionise the catering at Oakwell to give fans more choice and make more money. in late 2012 Don Rowing has announced plans for plasmas in the concourses to show games before matches and is trying to organise a bar in the ponty end and better catering for the fans. Nine years from one guy realising it would make the club money to those in charge adopting the ideas. Nine bloody years. If we could get someone in who was serious about helping the club reach its potential in terms of generating as much revenue as it can then i'd be all for it.
Re: Don't want them IF and a big IF someone did buy us, I don't think hill would go and splash cash needlessly. We all know that a player as to have the right DNA to fit in his team. Perhaps another centre half but rest of the pitch is covered IMO and we've still got a cart load of players to come back. Certainly made my weekend
Re: Don't want them can anyone tell me why they have a 'dream' of plasma tv's in the ground , bit limited in thinking the club should build a decent supporters club , to be used 4/5 nights a week plasma tv's ffs.
Re: Don't want them Sean Lewis, are you fcking serious? Plasma screens and catering?? Wow, how visionary! Suppose that is your idea of progress - the 'matchday experience'. Additional despairing sarcasm, available on request.
Re: Don't want them And where my little east anglian bell end did anyone say anything about a dream or even come close to suggesting that they didn't want to see a supporters club?
Re: Don't want them And didn't 'plasma' go out with the Ark? Thought it was all about LCD/LED these days?
