Wrong decision IMO. Their car isn't competitive at the front. He has just reduced his chances of winning.
Allegedly he has gone not because they are offering him more money but because they have promised him a better car than McClaren will have next season. Personally I am skeptical and I think his new management team have persuaded him to go because there is more money both in Salary and marketing oppertunities on the back of representing Mercedes. Ross Braun does have a good track record though so I wont be too surprised if the Merc is more competative next season but it will be interesting to see if Lewis is as fast as Rosberg assuming they are allowed to race fairly Really though I will be surprised if the Mercs are faster than Red Bull and McClaren next season - and Lotus may well join the party as well
That love affair has been dead for some time, probably a good time to move on. Unless Brawn has a card up his sleeve like which got JB the jump start in 09, I can't see Lewis putting a Merc any higher than 3rd row. Though I can see him driving into people in frustration. Paul Di Resta to the Macs then, chuffed for him.
Gone to Mercedes because from the 2014 season McLaren wont have an engine supplier. Mercedes can guarentee him a competetive car for the next few years whereas McLaren couldnt.
No one can guarantee anyone a competative car - when Button went to Honda it looked like a good move until they decided to pull out of F1 (turned out to be a good move anyway as it happened) I wouldnt bet against McClaren being fast in 2014 - they will have an engine thats for sure - whether its Mercedes power or something else we will have to see
[SUB][/SUB] Sorry not seen report, Di Resta was favourite to get the seat should Lewis leave. Blooming pitlane rumours- I blame the Chronicle!
Do Mercedes know that Hamilton doesn't join them, they join Hamilton...got a bit bored of hearing him moan constantly, might be entertaining to see him drive the sh*t out of a car which will be anywhere between the 3rd and 6th best car out there next season.
