for 55 minutes today we never looked anything like it today in terms of balance although we maybe could have scored. Once Stones come on we could attack down both sides, the lads got great feet and vision. It really helped and we didn't look cramped.
http://v2.barnsleyfc.org.uk/showthread.php?174973-John-Stones Good old Hemsy - we play a fancied team off the pitch at home, Score 5 goals stop the opposition creating a meaningful chance all game and he wants to change the team. I cant see how you can start with other than the same 11 myself. Didn't spot too much in the way of balance not being right. Wonder if Farnham still sticks by that?
I do and if you read what they said its because of a different match that they should have stuck with same team.
Still a stupid title. Only you would have known what you were saying, because you never explain anything, you just say things and we all should know whats going on inside your head.
I think Stones is the best prospect we have had for years and years, but to have dropped anyone after last week would have been wrong.
I actually think i know what hes on about. Im presuming he said we should change the team and got blasted for saying so. today was crying out for stones to come on after 20 minutes it was that obvious #33 whose name i cant remember cant cross or pass with his right foot and was forever turning back inside to use his left. As well as we played on against b'ham if we have a decent player fit, he should start before someone playing out of position
I agree with hemsworth Put your best team out not the team that played the last game, however well they played. I'm convinced that if John Stones had played from the start we would have won today. Even if you do go with Kennedy, he should have been subbed for Stones after 30 minutes. Kennedy's inability to use his right foot scuppered all our attacking potential down the right wing. It's a minor point really because most things are going very well, but as we dissect everything to the minutest detail on here it is a valid point and I think Hemsworth got it bang on.
Re: I agree with hemsworth I think the problem people had with Hemsworth's post was that the title of the thread wasn't very clear. I personally thought he was saying that the side we ended the game with (our last team) was not our best team but that didn't make sense once I read his post so I didn't have a clue what he meant. I agree that you should always play your best team regardless of how you played previously and that Stones was far better than Kennedy but I can also understand why Hill didn't start Stones. He's been out injured and to expect him to come in and play two games in a few days is a bit much, I think the plan was always for him to come on as sub today and start on Tuesday night.
Re: I agree with hemsworth Ambiguous title to the thread but I agree with the point 100%. Any right-footed right-back would have had a field day today but with one of the best young attacking right-backs available to us, I think we let sentiment get in the way of selection and missed out on probably winning handsomely. Further evidence - just had a word with Chris Hutchings, Ipswich's coach, who I know from his Rotherham days. "We compressed the game on the right side, leaving space on the left as we knew the right back would always turn back inside and could not hurt us on the outside".
