Went intut East Dene WMC for a change.
Now I don't like WMCs, and when I got in there I remembered why - you have to look downbeat and miserable before they let you in.

Anyway down to the WELL - and two changes to the team.
Stone back at right back and no Foster.
Never mind I thought, we have Cranie at the back and Bobby has replaced Cranie in midfield - everything will be ok - how wrong could I be !!!
Peterboro came out of the blocks like storm troopers.
For the first 15 minutes Barnsley were hardly in the game.
Every time a cross was made into the Barnsley box their No 9 won the header.
We just could not cope with the strength and power of their No 9.
Now I'm not a big fan of Foster, but he has played very well this season and during this game he was sadly missed - Shackel was missed even more (but thats another story).
If we had either one of those players in the team against Peterboro we would have probably won the game.
Unfortunately we haven't a tall powerful commanding centre back replacement on the bench. ONE REQUIRED.
Consequently two goals scored by Peterboro from headers. One hit the post and was tapped in. The other went straight in.
Although there aint that many options on the Barnsley bench to change things.
    Barnsley held a strange formation.
Bobby was sat (and he may well have done just that) in front of the back four - he played like he had lead in his booits and I think its probably the last game we will see of him.
While Dennis the Mellis played way up the pitch along side the front two.
We missed his contribution from midfield i.e. picking the ball up in the middle of the pitch and spreading the play.
It soon became apparent that Dennis isn't a forward.
So it was a kind of 4-1-2-3 formation.
With Dennis up the pitch and Bobby sat in front of the back 4 - this left a huge hole in the middle of the pitch.
Dawson and the polish guy, the public announcer seem to pronounce his name as 'Si.thi.wacker' all alone in midfield.
Si.thi.wacker aint big enough or strong enough to hold a central midfield place and he was constantly being knocked off the ball.
Davies and Stone were our best players.
    Stone is brilliant.
Davies trying to do everything himself.
Daggers looking daggers at everybody because he couldn't get into the game. I know he works hard but the jury is still out here. I would give Rose a few games.

So thats it in a nutshell..............ONE BAD DAY AT THE OFFICE.
Not concerned at the moment because the effort is still there.
But the heads of the players seem to drop because they could not find anyone within the team to unlock the Peterboro defence. The same happened against Ipswich.
It looks like other Championship managers have watched the Birmingham match on the tele and sussed Barnsley out.
Young Fergie out smarted the Keeeflicker.
Bang goes the Blackburn interview hopefully (which is a good thing for all concerned).

I made exactly the same point about Mellis - too far up the pitch, like on Saturday. If me and thee can see it, lets hope Keith can too!

Should've kept the same midfielders as previously..and put Hassle in at CB

I know you might say about hindsight etc. but I said at the start of the game when I found out Fozzie wasn't playing that Bobby should be CB, not least of all because Cranie had done well in midfield and seemed settled there. I know Hassle played well in midfield prior to his suspension but he's good in the air, whether or not he would've made a difference for their 2 goals is debatable. He did seem sluggish in midfield last night and perhaps he could''ve swapped with Cranie in the first half?

As for Dagnall, to be fair he was looking to play off the defenders shoulders on many occassions but the pass/ball never came, instead we turned to play sideways or backwards and the opportunity was lost.. Too many touches on the ball at times served only to make our intentions so obvious. I'm not downbeat though, and looking forward to a positive response at Leeds. Not going though it's far too expensive.

Which is what happened last season, hopefully Hill will have a back up plan this season, a lot was made about the loss of players last season, but the main problem we had was that other teams had sussed out how we played and we never could come up with a plan B . This season he has more experience and he will hopefully have addressed this .
    Fingers crossed.

Surely there's a new Darren Moore out there that is willing to come to the TARN
He might have been a bit slow........but he were that chuffing big, their strikers couldn't see our net when he was stood infront of it
